Almost forgot this option. Give a Gift Card. Gives them the flexibility to spend the way they want to. I also don't think it's rude or anything as folks nowadays even put up the list of stuff they want for gifts so that they are useful as also avoid unnecessary duplication.

why not give a Cash prepaid card like the Amex card on offer. Will work just like cash.
