need an android smart phone 13k - 18k

A: No sony. Had a bad experience with xperia x10. Not sure how they are doing now.

5. Q: Preferred input method (Touchscreen, QWERTY, etc.)?

A: any

6. Q: Camera required or not? If required, please specify type like front camera/flash/etc.

A: Required. front camera also preferred.

7. Q: Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).

A: android only

8. Q: Preferred connectivity options? (3G, Wifi, Edge etc).

A: wifi must

9. Q: What is your intended use for this phone(internet, camera, multimedia, mails, etc)?

A: mails, apps and internet.

A: Don't require dual sim

A: motorola defy - discontinued or difficult to get.

B: defy plus - costly and not much difference compared to Defy

c: lg O2 - only 512MB memory

D: Galaxy R- out of stock at most places.

any options or help appreciated.

Htc desire s around 20-21k at local dealers

good -3.7 inch screen,good built,good performance,good dev support

bad-no info on update to android 4,single core.

and if you want to consider SE

Sony Ericsson Neo V-good out of the box performance,good screen,good sunlight legibility,upgradable to android 4,hdmi port though just 320 mb internal to install apps and single core.

Galaxy R may have been discontinued get it from some local dealer if you can.

check out flipkart too.. and i will say go for the sony ericsson

its waterproof too.. and i havent check all other options recommended here.. but uptill now sony ericsson phones have the fastest processors in their phones than their competition..

and the sony ericsson can also record HD videos.. well no phone will have true HD.. but the fact that it is mentioned means that it will record at much better clarity and resolution than other phones..

3 incher Screen for approx 20k doesn't seem to be the right price buddy.

#mathew_p_a you should try for Galaxy R with your local retailers it should be available. Where are you located I may be able help you ?

why does only the screen size determine whether the price is right?? you will get lots of chinese phones with much larger screens, TV with antenna for free Doordarshan for as less as 7 K. but still its not advisable to buy it..

the sony ericsson also is waterproof. one boon for the rainy season.. otherwise people end up wrapping their phone in plastic bags and yet many of them get destroyed.
