Need best possible config for 30k(including monitor)

OP here :) I just bumped up my budget to 33k(VAT included).

Just for argument's sake.. What about the Phenom II X3 720BE? Is it available in the market? If it is about 6k I could go for a cheaper Biostar DDR3 board and accommodate it in the budget(only just!).

Components Description Price (INR)
Processor AMD PhenomII X4 945(3GHz, 4 cores, 6MB L3 Cache) 6900
Motherboard MSI 785GM-E51 4100
RAM 2GB 1333MHz Corsair DDRIII RAM 2300
HDD 500 GB Seagate 7200.12 1950
GPU Power Color HD5750 1GB GDDR5 7550
Monitor Dell S2009W/Samsung B2030 6500
Cabinet CM Elite 310 1500
PSU/SMPS Gigabyte Superb 460w 2150
ODD L.G./Samsung OEM SATA DVD-Writer 900
Total 33850

Still slightly breaches budget. The PhenomII X3 720 is obsolete and not VFM now as the PhenomII X4 925 sells for 6.5k.

Options: Going for the Gigabyte 740G DDRIII mobo(GA-MA74GMT-S2~2.7k). As u use a GPU the HT1.0 shouldn't be an issue. Else the PhenomII X4 925~6.5k and the Biostar TA785G3 ~3.8k.

If u are ok with 2nd hand H/W then u can get a 3-6 months old Sapphire HD5770 for ~7.5k. So u trade few months of warranty for better performance.

since plasma is a newcomer to the performance gaming scene

the correct word is "NOOB" ,

sorry plasma no offence meant!

it is not safe to recommend him or anyone new to the scene to unlock cores or overclock

he needs the best stock and stable computer he can get at that price..

besides there isn't any discernible performance difference between Phenom II X4 955(B55) and athlon II X3 435 at

resolutions on or less than 1600x900(even after using 5870)source toms hardware

besides if his unlocking doesn't work he will be stuck with a dual core 555BE(slower than athlonIIX3 435)

so better go for the economical athlonIIx3

and invest the difference on better gpu
No L3 cache = performance loss, and don't worry we were all "NOOBS" at a time so it doesn't matter when you decide to upgrade yourself to a new level in tech, just that you must be ready to take calculated risks and these days PCs come with enough safety net that even if a system should crash it is up and running in no time and with minimal hassles.

Hi, Sorry for late reply.

After much thought and increase in funds I have gone for the below config, most of it as suggested by Dark Angel. Will buy it mostly on next weekend.

I got the below prices from Prime through phone.

AMD PhenomII X4 945(3GHz, 4 cores, 6MB L3 Cache) - 7000

MSI 785GM-E51 - 4100

RAM 4GB 1333MHz Corsair/G.Skill DDRIII RAM - 5350

HDD 500 GB Seagate 7200.12 - 1950

GPU Sapphire HD5770 1GB GDDR5 - 9300 [MSI HD5770 HAWK Not available at Prime :(]

Monitor Samsung B2030 - 6600

Cabinet CM Elite 310 - 1600

PSU/SMPS Gigabyte Superb 460w - 2100

L.G. SATA DVD-Writer - 950

Total - 38950

It exceeds my new budget of 37k, but still I would have expected to squeeze in a HAWK 5770 for this price. RAM price seems slightly steep to me. Please comment on the prices.

I saw on their site that they have the MSI HD5770 HAWK for Rs.9350! But when i called them they said they were out of stock!! I want to go for this card. Any idea where I can get this card if not at Prime in Mumbai?

Intel i3 530 - 5300/-
Gigabyte H55 - 4350/-
Seagate 500gb - 1900/-

Kingston 2GB x 2 ddr3 - 4500/-
Ati hd5670 1gb gddr5 - 5850/-
Samsung B2030 - 6450/-
Hp dvdrw - 920/-

The i5 530 is no match for the Phenom II 945 so the config you give is a bit lower on the performace front, also the 5670 is a HTPC card won't fare well on gaming front

As u are on a tight budget i would say may be skimp on RAM and go for Kingston ones or Corsair Values ones. Should be arnd ~4.6k-4.7 for 4GB.

PM TheITWares aka Rahul. He has a store called E-Lounge in Lammy. If no Hawk then go for Sapphire ones as they are premium ATI partners and Aditya which handles Sapphire RMA has good feedback in forums.

Sapphire HD5770 should cost the same ~9k as the rest.

I have a PS/2 keyboard and mouse but the MSI 785GM-E51 motherboard has only one PS/2 port. How to get around this problem without buying a USB mouse? My Logitech mouse is almost brand new and dont want to change it!

Does using some sort of USB to PS/2 converter for the mouse degrade its gaming performance?

AFAIK , the latency on USB is a bit lower than that of PS2 , wont make a BIIIG difference so a converter would do just fine :) - PS2 data relay is relatively slower when compared to a USB , but the data to be transfered is so little that It wont really make a difference

Hi Guys!

Finally bought my PC and assembled it yesterday[It was fun!]. Runs like a dream so far! Already played Dirt 2 Demo and COD: MW2 as a test and was very happy playing at highest settings!! :D

Thanks to EVERYONE who posted on this thread. You all ROCK!!

Special thanks to DarkAngel, aman.pitbull and everyone who gave valuable advise and shared their knowledge with me.

Refer to my sig for the final config.

Only have one issue with the monitor(Samsung B2030), I cant make it upright... meaning I cant tilt it and make it face me straight... It faces downwards a little.. No issues for me right now. I'm happy with it but need to figure it out today.

The cost was just over 38k. But I went over 39k as I bought the DVI cable, USB-PS2 converter + 500 bucks extra for the elite 335, coz I liked the looks better and also has a better front intake I feel. [I hate the how the NZXT Gamma looks btw!]

Also went for the Corsair XMS3 RAM with heatsinks over the value RAM.

I will post the exact prices soon. I don't have the bill handy right now. Sorry!

Ok sorry for the delay but here are the exact prices.

Also posting my temps here :

CPU Idle - 30-33C

Are these temps ok guys? should i add a front intake fan for running at stock?
