Finally I’ll buy a new cabby for my config:

C2D 2.66ghz
intel dg33fb mobo
trans 2gb + ocz 2gb c4 (both 800mhz)
1tb + 250gb seagate
samsung 2233sw
palit gts 250 512mb
vx450

From all the suggestions and the mini guide that sickizblank posted (thx to all 4 tht thread), I have shortlisted CM Elite 330 and 334 coz they have SECC body (which I think will be superior to Steel Body) and can hav more nos of HDD's. Can any1 share the prices of these two cabinets and CM 690 PURE?

One more important thing is that, it would be great if someone can suggest me any other vfm cabby tht can utilize my mobo's both 1394’s, coz I’ll use firewire’s daily.

Will also look at Zebby bijli. Also, can sum1 share the prices of the fans for cabbies.

Thanks.

Elite 334 is a very good choice as it looks very nice. AFAIK no cabbie has 2 firewire ports unless some special one which wud be very expensive. Ur best bet is to get a PCI firewire card or something.

Just saw CM690 Pure, I think it has 1394 on top, and one 1394 will be the one on backside on mobo along with all other ports.

Sorry if I wasnt clear.

Lol... yes 690 has a firewire port on top. u r all set.

CM Elite series has one firewire port on the front panel but no cables are provided, i think gigabyte cabinets come with firewire port along with cable.

ok, saw the specs of both CM Elite 330 & 334, they are almost same! whts the diff betn the two?

on second thought, its better to get 330/334 in 2k range thn to go for 4k CM690. will add firewire pci card (Rs. 350 on ebay, so Rs. 300 locally n has 4 ports) - thx Rockfella & Gowt1ham

@bigbyte - specs on CM website doesnt say if they hav 1394 in front - in 330/334
and which cable u r talking abt, the one referred by Gowt1ham (6pin firewire) or the cable used to connect firewire port on cabby to mobo's slot. I think if cabby has additional 1394 port thn it'll b coming wid this cable.

So my ques remain:

1) whts the diff betn CM 330 and 334?

2) if possible, prices of 330 and 334.

3) is SECC body superior to Steel Body?

4) prices of the fans for cabbies.

5) any other good cabby option (like gigabyte as bigbyte mentioned) max upto 2k range having additional 1394 port.

-thx!!

instead of buying a cabby & buying seperate fans why not buy a case that has all of it preinstalled.
it's basically one & the same thing.

Well I have to check specs for CM Elite 330/334, but as far as Elite 335 is concerned it has a firewire slot on the front panel. I've this cabinet.

I'm talking about the cable used to connect firewire port on cabby to mobo's slot. CM Elite 335 has this slot but it is not provided with the cable. I think Gigabyte X series cabinets comes with this cable. Contact amarbir.

1) Nothing but looks. 334 and 335 have the new CM logo in the front, where as 330 does not have that. 334 looks like a mini version of CM690. i have the 334 and would recomend the same.

2) They are priced same. about 2000 INR. max rs.100 or 200 less for the 330.

3) No idea. but check this: SECC metal? - Cases - Desktops

4) good quality, high rpm and more cfm would cost about 400-500. I bought CM 120 MM blue led fan for the front of my cabinet. 2000rpm, 90cfm from Rahul (TheITWares) for rs. 450.

5) Gigabye. but i do not know if they have screwless design. like CM33x series have screwless design for HDD/FDD/DVD bay and PCi slots.

Gigabyte X4 seems to br good, but I think its not available in Lamington Rd. (is it?), and after shipping by amarbir it will cost 2.5k+ (i guess). So, will better go with CM elite 330 (since its same as 334/335, except logo). Any idea, how much a cable used to connect firewire port on cabby to mobo's slot will cost?
