1. Around 57k
2. Student discount is 6-7%, So around 53k
3. Don't know much about that, but iMagine and iStore would be my first picks.
4. You'll have to check with the store you (intend to) purchase it from.

Re: Macbook

If you are not totally fixed on macbook/macosx, check out MSI x340 slim models (other X models also) or even Acer AS1410 if its available in india, seems interesting to me...

Re: Macbook

@qsahmed, you were the one who asked about Hackintosh right?!

What happened to that? Couldn't install MAC on PC?

Re: Macbook

@OP- i hope you know the advantages and limitations of a macbook while being firm on it.

Also, If you're a student, try to gather a few chaps around you for bulk discounts.

Best place i wouldnt know, but try getting them to pursue you if you have a couple of orders.

And, as always, try getting it from abroad! :)

Re: Macbook

Yes, you will get student discount. After discount, the cheapest one should cost you around 52 - 53k (Talking about 13'' Aluminum Macbook Pro, the white one will be cheaper). croma is an authorized Apple reseller in India. And they have nice financing schemes as well. Not sure about 0% though.

Other than that, there are 2 Apple stores in Noida - imagine and iStore. Both are in the Sector 18 market. imagine is opposite to the great India place right next to the Gurudwara.

Re: Macbook

thanks for the reply guys.....

I will go to Np today wand will inquire abt all this...

@photostarSR

umm no, the 13 Alum Pro even after student discount is for 68k, regular price being 75k.

@OP:If you want to save money, and are ready to do the Netbook way, the Dell mini's have been Hackintoshed rather well and successfully, there's even a forum dedicated to the nuances of hackintoshing a mini: Link

IN what world you are living? :P

After student discount, the White Polycorbonate Unibody comes to 53k.

Aluminium comes for 68.

And I would suggest buying from croma for student discount.

Its no fuzz quick deal there. All you will need is student ID card.

Raincheck :

I bought a macbook 2 dayz ago in delhi itself (show off comin soon :P)

Student discount schemes all over have been pulled off

there is no student discount available anywhere

The new white polycarbonate is at 56,900

the 13"pro is at 70+

The only scheme available at this point is at croma where if you show a kingfisher airlines boarding pass you straight away get a Rs.5000/- discount

i couldnt get it so got it at the MRP

croma with the boarding pass wud be your best bet at this point

the differences in the white polycarbonate and the 13"pro are:

1.Aluminium body

2.Backlit Key'bd

3.SD Slot

4.Firewire port

the other specification is exactly the same just that the white one has a 250gb HD and the pro has a 160gb HD

so if you can live without the 4 points mentioned above the white one is more VFM

And Most importantly (for me, for Graphic Design) a display with 60% more colour gamut as opposed to the earlier MBPs

went to iStore today and saw the Macbook....it was looking really good and the trackpad was huge....but there is no EMI option :( ....

they were giving free Targus (or something) Bags free.....

but no EMI option and i m out :(

Anyways i m going to buy the Asus EEE PC 1005HA (for 16000) + Ex DVD Writer + 16GB Corsair Voyager (may be GT) and i will install the Snow Leopard on it ....also i will replace the WiFi card with Dell one and also will upgrade the RAM to 2GB .. . . .

any suggestions regarding above config(upgrade) ?

Now that macbook is ruled out,(sorry for that :() can we start the good old wat to figure out what will be best for you?

Post your budget and requirements and any other things you want us to consider. I am sure the gurus here will find something. :)

^ ya sure .....

My Budget is around 19-20k for the Netbook along with 2GB RAM...

Wanna install OSX Snow Leopard...i saw many videos and read many tutorials and i think the best iNetbook is Dell Mini 10v but i chcked the price today and it was 23k :(

So my only option is to buy the eee pc 1005HA and replace the Mini WiFi card with dell one...

if u have any suggestion then please let me know....m currently downloading Snow Leopard and will buy the Netbook on the day when downloading gets finished (3-4 days)...

If they(iStore or Apple) are not giving you EMI, then there are other ways to get the EMI. Like:

1. Using Credit Card. Most of the CC companies off this facility of converting any purchase to EMI. This is ruled out if you don't have a CC.

2. 'Your' banks personal loan. Iam emphasizing more on your bank(i.e. where u have a savings/current account) coz most probably they will be ready to give you a small personal loan within a week of documentation.

So just see if any of the above to options can work for you :)

finally i got the macbook 13"
actually i havent bought it yet...but a seller gave me the macbook to check for one day...
Its a early 2008 model.....
specs:
C2D 2.4GHz 3MB
3GB DDR2 667
13.3"
etc

No warranty....

his asking price is 29000....there are some hairline cracks( ? )....he said he bought a new iMac and he can get the cracks repaired for free but he is also not sure....
The cracks arent v.bad but still this is my biggest worry....

Now what i wanna know is how to check the working of this macbook .... ?

i mean how i can be sure that its working 100% fine....
also please let me know if the price is high/low or ok .....

waiting for repliess

I can't comment on the price on apple terms but for a normal second hand laptop its priced horribly. You will find next-to-horrible onboard graphics in the form of Intel GMA X3100 on that macbook. The CPU on the other hand will be decent and the RAM very satisfactory but thats about it.

If you really want to go second hand then you can buy a decent hackintoshable machine for 15K (will usually be an old compaq, dell or acer with same GMA X3100 graphics).
