If its only for buying and selling without any discussions or controversies, I'd say EBAY is a much better option. I wonder why you need TE for this.

Very funny :P We have the tech sections for discussions. Ask about products there, get a idea about prices, even check up on the seller's posts to see if he seems reliable. The suggested 50/100 post requirement for trading is just to avoid this problem. TE market place is a platform for (genuine) TE members to buy and sell.

Ren, the gmano-viking example is not valid here. AFAIK, viking hardly has any posts in the tech sections (at least any useful posts). He only hangs around the mobile section or the market. I for one would have been vary of buying anything from him.

BTW, why is bidding not allowed?

feel free to bid higher than stated price if you wanna outbid the other party :P

but dont start bidding at say 5k in public when stated price is 7k for example. that counts as lowballing ;)

PM ur offers to buyer. How hard is it :P

Well I think the query was for proper bidding....just like ebay...wherein u can only bid higher than the current bid...
Why not?

I have seen plenty of lowballing and not a single valid bidding done in thread. So u tell me.

Whatever bidding i have seen has always resulted in problems where someone does some extreme lowballing and then people take it off from there still far less than the stated value.

Show me 1 thread where proper bidding is done. And again its upto the seller whom to sell the product to. So bidding is useless until seller is ready to honor ur bid.

Seller might just sell it off to first proper offer as he is getting what he wants and quick. or to local purchaser than than outstation buyer. ;)

Funky, All that comes under negotiations/lowballing as we term it...

I am talking abt something else....Bidding...

Bidding as u know is not allowed on TE...Just asking why cant that be implemented...

One is free to do whatever he wants to through PM regarding price.

Its not like i buy whatever i want to buy at seller's price, i do show interest or make my offers at lower price. but thats through PM. That was sanity of the thread is maintained.

And are you talking about full fledged bidding system? I dont see the need of that on TE. Its not a bidding site. Its a place to place your items for sale to the targeted audience. Thats it.

If i want a proper bidding system i will go on ebay.

The reason people try to sell things on TE is due to fact that this is tech forum and you are targeting right set of people who will be interested in purchase of your hardware. Its more like a classificed than an auction.

negotiations are fine with me. As long as they are done privately noone will have anything against them.

Its a FREE 4 ALL platform. But its not FREE TO ABUSE OR LOWBALL platform.
