I have just got my new Canon Powershot SX 10 IS.......and unfortunately it doesnt have a rechargeable battery of its own.....so i just wanted to know which are some good AA size rechargeable cells......

Sanyo Eneloop seem to be quite popular. The are famous for their ability to retain charge for a long duration. They are available just as batteries or batteries with a USB charger. The batteries are made in Japan. The USB charger is made in China.

+1 for Sanyo. I got them a couple of weeks back and really impressed with the performance. Make sure you get a good charger with them, or it will take a REALLY long time to charge.

They are available for Rs 380/- for 2 AA batteries(I think). I can check and let you know the price. Most likely, I'll be getting 2 for myself tomorrow. I'll pick up the USB charger + the batteries if the price is reasonable.

I already have a Ni-Cd battery charger. Wonder what will happen if I use my old charger with these new generation batteries.

Edit: Nice explanation on the advantage of eneloop batteries despite the seemingly lower 2000mAh capacity at

you'll find eneloops on ebay

I am not much into ebay....so can i be guided to someother site....i saw one on Techshop.in.....but its way costly....it costs around 936.....and i am not sure whether thats a USB charger or not....but man 936 for a pair of rechargeable cells....is way costly for me mite....... :(

@ nukeu666 :- The product specifications are yet to be updated....i am just going by the pics.......

@ amc :- Dude do you really think i am going to shell out that much moolaah....for just 2 cells.....anyway thanks for the link ;)

@ sTALKEr :- Right on it mate.....Thanks

Well, I checked up on the eneloops yesterday. While a pair of 2 batteries is available for Rs 380/-, a pair + USB charger cost Rs 1,089/- :O .

Man...no way I'm paying all that extra dough for a crappy plasticky looking chinese charger. But it brings me back to the problems that I don't have a good pair of rechargeables for now :( .

Had bought the same (4 nos) from the same dealer earlier when the coupons were available. At that time it was priced Rs.730/-. So, paid 730-300 = Rs.430/-. Really good and made in Japan. Also locally bought Sanyo Ecocharger for Rs.450/-. Sony Cycle Energy batteries are equally good. They also use Eneloop technology. Using 4 nos of those too.

My only question at this point of time will be....isnt there a cheaper alternative for the ENELOOPS...i mean ok....most of the people have recommended it...and i am thankful to all of them for this suggestion...but i am looking for something cheaper than this (SANYO ENELOOP)...so guys please help me out here....

You can of course get a normal NiMh pack from a good brand like Sanyo, Sony etc. Cheaper but ones like Uniross, GP etc. are also there which are not bad. Only thing is that they wont retain charge for long periods. Try to get 2500 or 2700 mah ones.

I am using Uniross 2800MAH batteries for quite a long time(3 years to be precise) and they still give me about 200+ shots with flash..

New one used to give 250+ ....
about 2 years back they costed me 1500 bucks for set of 4 batteries with light weight charger...

And if you you are not willing to pay something around 1K for batteries and charger then you can not enjoy your camera because cheaper batteries will give you only upto 100 shots....

Uniross is cheapest among good batteries, below that you will get crap or duplicate batteries..
