Guys i just won an auction for a used apple iphone 3g black for 190$+ 6$ shipping in U.S. only. Now let me start with my questions as this is my first time in this type of deal.

1. Is the deal really worth or its expensive.
2. Best possible way to get it to Delhi.

1.Although The phone looks ok,see a negative feedback of the seller.

2.Best Possible way to get is Aramex Shop and Ship if someone cant bring it for you to India.

Is the price justified for a 3g 8gb.

Shipping along with Duty Charges would come around Rs.2000(Duty approx upto Rs.500 included)

So total would come out to be Rs.9408(Taking 1$=48approx)+Rs.2000=Rs.11,408.

I would advise to search Member's Market in the forum and buy from there..

how come u calculated duty as Rs.500 isnt duty for phones is only 1.3% or 1.5%.

I have asked the seller to ship it to India he said he will ask the post office for the shipping charges then ill confirm just wanted to ask if he sends it to india and mark it as a gift stilll they will charge me the duty.

I paid Rs370 as a duty yesterday for a cellphone with invoice value of $18.

Discussed with Aramex today and got the following reply:

The customs guys at time do not consider the e bay price when charging the duty as e bay is an auction site.



Keeping this in Mind I have calculated max duty to be Rs500

Custom Clearance is very unpredictable, Of my 7 shop and ship parcels,the last parcel was of least value ($18)and I was charged max duty on it.

Otherwise,for a cellphone(san Fransico) that I got earlier,the custom charges were Rs72.

I more thing I noticed,Whenever my shop and ship parcel is diverted to Mumbai for custom clearance,I have to pay more as compared to custom Clearance;s in delhi....

Maybe Custom PPl take more bribe in Mumbai than in delhi

@ OP: I would avoid buying a used phone from overseas for the simple reason that it is a used phone, Period. :no:
