Samsung S23 or A55 ?

blr_p

Quasar
Which to get?

Or

Both S23 (8GB+256) & A55 (8GB+256) for 43k

For 3k more you can get the A55 with12GB+256

Both will get four OS upgrades but the A55 starts at 14 whereas the S23 launched with 13

The A55's battery will beat galaxy S+ (let alone S) models for half the price if you accept a slightly less capable camera.

Did I mention the A55 comes with a microSD slot.

It's possible the A55's price will reduce further but the S23 might not be available later.

I'm also wondering whether the FK S23 offer can be trusted as Amazon can't match it for much more?

And Samsung wants 70k on their site for the same specs S23

Seems the S23 or the Ultra isn't immune to this green/pink line issue

Within the warranty period, Samsung will replace the screen for free. Presuming they don't put the blame on you by saying you dropped it.

Early detection?
A simple way to check if a pink or green line is forming but too faint to see is to use opposing colours. The app makes it easier to pick a colour to illuminate the full screen.

A red or pink screen will show a green line if it's too faint to see.

A green screen will show a red or pink line

Outside the warranty period, they want to be paid. Unless, you get on X and post there (see attached, assuming it's the same guy) . After that it seems they waive the screen cost but there is still the service charge which I expect would be minimal

Here is how someone with an S22 and same problem got it fixed at minimum cost

Oneplus is better at handling the green line issues IMO.

To whet your appetite about the new One UI 7

Decided to backup the phone to a Samsung external portable 1TB

Settings - Accounts & Backup - External Storage Transfer

Backup everything option selected

It went through and calculated around 78GB odd to backup and it would take and hour and a half.

Took just ten minutes to complete to transfer that amount. Thanks to the thick USB c cable provided with the drive.

Drive only got a bit warm during the backup.

The only thing to remember here is a restore requires logging into your Samsung account with it's password.

Few days back the March security update dropped. Installed just fine.

I'm hearing that the beta of one ui 7 saves more battery on the S23 than before.

I don't know how much more room for improvement there is here as the idle drain rate on one ui 6 is pretty good already. Around 0.5%/h.

For some reason I feel those on the 128GB storage variant are worse off battery wise than those with the 256GB variant. If that's the case then it will make a difference for these people

Waiting for the phone to cool down before applying the update.

Reached 37C after the download.

Yeah, they haven't updated their website as yet. I took a long scrolling screenshot of it for reference

I'd recommend to do clean install of the new operating system through the firmware file externally, I hope it's still possible, which wipes everything down. The update through phone will have to retain your apps + their data and stuff which was running on old firmware, if this is a major update you probably want a fresh start.

The downside is you have to set up everything again, which is time consuming, which might not be worth it for everyone.

I think I'll update as is. The update from A12 to A13 went smoothly without any hitch on the S20FE. Updated the security patch, optimised files while booting up. Recent Bugs notwithstanding Sammy has this upgrade game sorted.

I see no need for a clean install.
