Graphic Cards Need Help - AGP card in DVO slot ?

i have a 2 yr old mercury mainboard with an intel chipset model no 845 gv
it's got sumthin called a dvo slot (which actually looks like an agp slot ) but says do not use agp card as it may harm the system..... can any1 tell me if i can actually buy a graphics card that will work on this F***ed up motherboard !!!!!!!
and i cactully did try using an agp card but it didnt work.....the comp refused to boot up
 
I dont think you can put in an AGP card in a DVO slot which is some kind of expansion slot for a riser card to support DVI connectors. Have a care, you were saying that the manual specifically mentions not to insert an AGP card and yet you tried that out. You may end up with a fried mobo or graphics card.
 
but havta join collg now and not really keen on taking a comp there during first sem atleast... so jus waiting 4 the prices to drop a tad bit and then pick up sum good bargains...
