Guys I have following configuration
Motherboard: Asus M4A88T-M
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
GPU: AMD Radaeon HD 5850

I want to buy a 4 GB DDR3 single stick RAM. I tried googling the compatible RAMs but got confused. I have a budget around 5k. Could you please suggest which RAM I should buy?

bought from flipkart for 2.5k
Can I use this 4 gb stick in one slot and my older 2 gb stick in other? Will the combination of 4gb and 2 gb work?

Why dont you just try it & see what happens? On intel Pcs it does create problems, i wasnt able to use it on a i3 but should work on AMD

If you have a budget of 5k you might as well get another 4GB stick of the same specs so that their speeds are matched. In case of mismatched speeds, both the Ram sticks will run at the lower speed.

You can sell off the 2GB stick easily.

yes, with 5k budget OP can easily go for a 8GB ram and stop using the 2GB ram .. I've tried running memory modules of different manufacturers and latency but they ran good - just had to do a little tweaking in bios memory option - that's all. So if a motherboard is good enough most probably Op can use his 4GB+2GB ram.

Actually I did not order two sticks as I have two sticks of Kingston 2GB RAMs. 4GB+2GB combination is working. But 4+2+2 combination is not. The red Mem OK light stays on in case of 4+2+2. I tried pressing but it did not help. Tried changing slots (4+2 in same color/2+2 in same color with 4GB isolated).
Anyway I'm happy with 6GB as of now :)

may be one of the 2GB ram modules is faulty but 6GB should give you enough performance boost in games .. I first noticed this while playing crysis 2 :D
