Audio Need help choosing headphones

Hello,

I need some help choosing a good headphone. I have narrowed down to a few within my budget but am confused which one to get.

I need something which has really good bass and something that can go with my Asus Xonar DX 7.1 sound card. I had PL-30, but they didnt really sound so good with the sound card. Hence I need some suggestions.

^^ Um do share what kind of music you listen to ! When you are spending so much it does benifit if we know what kind of sound signature you prefer - lots and lots of boomy bass ? Crisp trebble, forward mids ? Neutral / Analytical sound ? Bright ? Dark ? etc..
 
I am into most of the genres of music, cant really pin point anything precisely. Its a mixed bag really.

But yes, i like deep bass with slow music for eg IIo - Is this love etc.. Sorry but i dont know how to explain you better than this :ashamed:

I would be attaching the headphones to the amp of Edifier C3 (3.5m) which is connected to Xonar DX.
 
Pay a trip to the apple shop at Inorbit mall, The guy has stocked up on good brands and decent prices.
 
Thats the first thing i did :p

Am actually planning to get it through KMD as i didnt like the collection there as well as in Atria mall.

+ they are pretty much overpriced. I bought the JBL 410 reference headphones some months back for 2k shipped from KMD. Apple store had the same for a painful 3.4k.
 
btw sennheisers have international warranty , so it will be better to get sennheiser .. someone got CX400 bought from kmd replaced locally in mumbai :p
 
from what i have read, have never used any of these :D

grado sr-60 is good, but it will sit on the ear, so you may or may not find it confortable in long runs... its subjective

i like the senny px100, but again, on the ear so i dont care for them (tried these several times)

people on the net say the senny HD485 is better than a 515... they say get the 485, or skip straight to the HD555... though i dont know why :)

though i think the indian rate for the HD485 is around 4800 or so

the first one u listed is probably for gaming... and thats all i know, never read about the rest
 
i got a demo of the CX400 from apple shop recently. I found them to be lacking a good amount of bass when compared to PL30s.

And, i am done with In-ears now, need a really good pair of cans. My main usage will be music which will be sourced from my rig as well as my phone.

Am now thinking of getting JBL reference 610s (wireless).
JVCs according to some professional reviews lack a good amount of deep bass.. its got more of boomy bass which does not appeal me :p

I just need to confirm if the Bluetooth technology of JBL 610s works with mobiles phones/dongles and not just Ipods. Does anyone have an idea on that ?

are u kidding ? PL30 are nowhere near the bass of CX400 :rofl: i got both and PL30 lack bass :no: CX400 have more output level also compared to PL30 :p
 
I am dead sure of that, cuz in Apple store(Imagine), they had it attached to an IPod. I also tried them with my bro's Sansa clip.

I found PL30 to surpass the bass depth. Yes, they are pretty boomy compared to PL30 but lack the depth :p

And PL30 is a clear winner in price-performance ratio too. CX400s cost around 4.3k there :S
