Audio Need help choosing headphones

Alright, the JVC HA-RX 900 are in my hands ! :p

But just a question. I dont seem to enjoy the expected effect when they are paired with Asus Xonar DX. It sounds like a mediocre set of headphones with "Xonar". Even my onboard sounds a bit better than them. (w-t-h?) No bass effect, nothing. Its just sounds like my Rs.500 Iball headphones :S

Is there something i can do,buy, sell, tweak, troubleshoot??

Help! :ashamed:

whatever you do, do not go for Sennheiser HD212 pro....im still cursing myself for blowing up 4.7k on those...

you will have to make first a choice as in which type of headphones do you prefer, the ones that go around your ears, or the ones that sit on your ears?

oops! didn't see your last post before posting my reply.

anyways, that is a good choice....as for the sound...give the headphones some burn-in, they will get better....

^^ Pink noise is the best to burn in. All my earphones and headphones sounded pathetic out of the box except the HD650.

Even the RE0 was sounding so ordinary that I was feeling terrible that I spent so much for it. Now I am wondering how come it was so cheap ! :)

Just play the pink noise file in a loop and leave your comp/laptop playing it continuously for 2 nights at least and then burn it in by listening to music regularly. Generally most headphones sound 85 - 90 % of the best sound withing 15 hours of burn in. So two nights should do it. (Remember I said generally, so I could be very wrong in this case !)

but beware of too much burn in - i would suggest to give it some time for drivers to settle down, regular music should do, i personally enjoy the change in the sound n then appreciate the new shine in the sound, couple of listening sessions wuold do i guess, headphone drivers die with time, so dont make them die soon :p

They are already sounding amazing after a night of bass burn-ins :)

will keep em' for one more night as said, alongwith pink noise..

thank you ppl ! really appreciate all the help.
