Need help for fresh BBand Connection in Blore.

Well, I have to get a new connection for net @ home in blore, so what are my options?

1. I dont have a BSNL landline, was thinking about the 500 plan with night unltyd dload option. Soooo if I want the plan, shud i go for a new landline? will the rental plus blah blah charges be extra aside from the bband charges?

2. I had an airtel connection in Mysore, which i got it recently disconnected. The customer care guy told me I could transfer this line to blore if I wanted, so can I get it transferred now if I want to go for an airtel connection? Would save 500bux installation something charges.

3. I have a laptop @ home now, will it be safe for it to be used 24x7 as a dload rig?

4. Since i have a lappy, I'm considering a wireless solution. Please help me out in this, since i'm a n00b when it comes to wireless.

EDIT : Forgot to tell, I'm in for a one time purchase of modem or router.
 
if you get airtel you haev you pay more cash for getting more speed upto 2-4 mbps and few 1-5 gb free download

so bsnl give 2 mpbs you can download unlimited 2am to 8 am

or 256 kbps ulfor 900 buck

airtel give more tax and service are aveg not good :P
 
for bsnl land line you'll have to pay installation and deposit right. why not save money and get something like airtel or tata.
 
I did have airtel, but the night unlimited is kinda tempting....Had the 128kbps unltd plan, never used to get above 13KBps. Night 10 to 6 was 256KBps tho :D

Hmmm maybe i'll just get the airtel
 
1. You might have some waiting time for our BSNL babus to "Approve" you a new connection. Not sure though (you might get lucky). Bill will be 500 + phone rental + 12.xx% tax

2. Seems to be more feasible than 1. as it would just be a transfer.

3. dont think its a problem. Ive used mine (till it died ;) but for another reason).
 
Woookay so airtel finalised.

Wifi router, modem suggestions? I have an Asus modem @ home, pretty good. Need help in wifi router :)

512 is out of my reach though.

Oh, I'll be purchasing the modem. It said 699+tax for my old connection, turned out to be 703 incl tax w/o modem...so my guess is around 760 per month and 1020pm w/o modem?

Okay, how do i contact airtel regarding this? The line in mysore is disconnected now....

I guess its as good as getting a new connection from airtel since you got ur old connection terminated.. same thing happend to me when I moved from malleswaram, I got it DC'd first then called em again for connection, they said I should order for a new connection(installation charge etc).. but there is no airtel BBand only in my area now :p

I havent got any deposits back yet, so might give it a try :P

^^ read somewhere on TE wonly... i think its in tht thread abt speed bumps.. take a look..

OT-will get tracking number tomo. dropped off cans today. real sorry for delay.
