While we are all talking about this case, i made a big mistake today....while using the mobile banking application,i sent money to a wrong account,i was trying to send it from my SBI account to my syndicate bank account, but i sent it to the bank account of a friend, who stays ten minutes from me,atleast i thought he was a friend....now he says **** off,i wont give u back your money, why did u send it in the first place...now whom do i contact? police ? coz the bank said they cant do anything !

If I'm not wrong you are in Manipal ?
Studying ?
So are you in Hostel or rented room ?
What kind of a Jerk he is ?
I mean, he got some jaan-pehchan ? (In India it matters the most ;))

1. Threat him you'r gonna report police that he forced you to do the transfer forcefully :)
Else you are not mad to do the transfer.

2. Take some guy wid you whos got some bad repo there and try forcefully / threaten.

3. Take some police guy and trll him the scenario personally.
If humanity don't do anything.. Hive some 500rs to some local Police wala and he'll thread him :)

Whatever you wanna do. Do it before its too late.. Baad mein no1 will be able to help !

^ Yeah i am in manipal studying, staying in hostel,so is he....he was a friend, dunno why the sudden change in behaviour....he is the guy with the bad repo lol ;)

Im still thinking what to do :(

Bro, he ain't your friend in first place.
If he play silly with you, talk to him to understand that situation that you are not in the play mood.
Else backup with your friends to have a chit chat with him.
Taking this things to fir or police doesn't suits well.

How much money .. is it a significant amount..?

Spread this around .. to all the folks in the hostel .. peer pressure should do the trick.
I am surprised living in a hostel people can act with such nerve..

I wonder how you messed it up since its not like a 'click' and money is transferred. There is a confirmation page that comes up that requires you to double check the transfer details and then confirm the transfer ...
or is it something different in mobile banking?

just few days back similar situation happened to a friend of mine ...the amount involved was rather big 2.5 Lacs....what we did was we took our friend to this guy we know ...he "settles" matters like this one way or the other if you know what i mean :P and it got "settled" in no time...if the amount is big you have no other choice this is the best option .

not in mobile banking...amount is 6k...a lot,for a student....

Ok...get your student welfare dean into the act or something....before going the legal way(police and all..)..go to someone senior in college....

Not trying to scare you pal, but online transfers are ir-reversible, the only way to get it back is to take it from the person who received it (your not so good friend in this case), an alternate method is to write a letter to the upper level of the bank (SBI's main branch is in Pune I think), if you don't get proper response of the first letter write another referring to the first letter and include a cc. to the RBI, it'll be looked upon, I cannot guarantee any result but this is how it works.

I have dealt with 2 cases

1 - SBI Branch Manager not willing to transfer 2 PPF accounts from a remote location in Maharashtra to Mumbai. It was a friend's account along with his mom's, a rep. was tired of visiting the branch for 6 months and being tossed here and there so I wrote a letter on his behalf and it got transferred damn damn quickly, the manager even begged the rep. that why did you complaint etc.,

2 - SBI Branch Manager not willing to open an account "due to heavy work load" in a remote town in Bihar, did the same thing and manager apologized and gave royal treatment.

Write a letter asap, google for their head office address.

Dude technically, you can't lodge a police complaint against him as it was you who had made the transfer yourself (unless you fudge your report and make it look like he hacked your phone/account). Even if you could, it would be a long drawn out process anyway. Since you're still a student, try reaching the other dude's parents and see if they can help you out. You should also definitely involve the college authorities and they would certainly assist you from an ethics standpoint. While doing this, you should also approach both your bank and the receiving bank and give your complaint in writing about the issue and ask for the solution. Please understand it is very difficult for a bank (or anyone for that matter) to determine whether the transfer is genuine or made in error since you made the transfer yourself and hence it would be difficult to get relief. Best bet, try to put some social pressure on him and see if that leads you anywhere.

Contacted both banks, only feasible solution they offered was the guy has to submit authorisation letter to reverse the transfer... Anyways, im on it... Thanks for ur suggestions..
