Video need help in buying a 32inch lcd tv @30k

WOW Wyly.... Well Said Man!!!

I wonder if Arnab would check this thread again ( Now that he has bought the TV) and ponder on your sermon!

But, in today's India, where almost every govt official ( Judges Included) flaunt their ill - earned money, you have been severe on poor Arnab for nailing him like this. He has after all struck a good deal with a dealer and saved some hard earned bucks... For, who in India keeps account of taxpayer's money?... The govt. definitely does NOT!!!

In india grey market is somewhat popular is because of dirty trade/business by our companies. In usa u can easiy find a last yrs model for discount in a sale or even refubrished product with some kind of warranty(fewer times it s manufacturere warranty).

but in india these crap business tycoons/companies never bother to pass their profit to costumers. instead they are happy to bribe higher officials in govt and eat profit

India is huge market

I dont know about a,b,c,d of business, but as common man i always had a doubt, why electronics in USA are cheap (not every new models, but old models n some new models),why cant they deliver such good price in india

Big companies dont want loose their profit.they give false invoices

For samsung tv i have been quoted 9 different prices at 9 different shops all with warranty, all showrooms are big names in electronic industry here, they even ready for bargaining for 500 - 1000rs.how can this happen if taxes and customs are purely responsible for MRP of a product.

there is always transport charges, showroom maintenance charges+ profit in that MRP

so when companies change their attitude, people also change their attitude

and people also behave more patriotically and govt friendly

If u people change first and start feeding these crap companies and distribution system by behaving patritiocally, govt never think of what false things happening in companies(govt knows whats exactly happening in big companies ,but they never react, all top officials are well fed with horlicks and boost)

Dirty business is behind black market boom

if some thing is in cheaper prices available from trusted company itself, nobody would bother to look at black market..its one way of teaching black market people

if i overspoken pls forgive me

Now 4 authorized bill there r almost every dealers or showrooms ask u first if u want a bill or not... If yes then the vat is there if no then no taxes and u will save 1k...'don't forget its india and everyone wants to hav an extra piece of cake...'

What are the consequences of not talking an authorised bill, apart from dodging VAT ?

Would it void the warranty or affect resale price to which i wonder why a future buyer would care once waranty period expired.

Are there any major reasons to get an authorised bill ?

What are the important things to look out for in an authorised bill ? just VAT number or more.

Having said that i'm in the market too for a similar sized LCd screen, not sure whether to continue here in this thread or create yet-another one ???

I suggest you start a fresh thread. That way, the discussion will remain focussed on your specific need rather than get lost in a catch-all situation.

OK, but i'd like the other questions answered if possible here :)

I don't think it is worth saving just the VAT. AFAIK, you will not get the manufacturer's warranty without the official purchase.
You can buy LCD TVs at considerably lower price than just VAT saving. A 32" TV costing upward of 32K here is available for under 20K in Singapore. The true savings come when you have a reliable source who will import and sell those TVs. Arnab himself said his source could give him a LA32B450 at something like 25K. This model costs at least 32K anywhere.
I spoke to Samsung service about what happens if my uncle from abroad gifts me a TV and I have no bill for it. They said I could still call them in case of repair and they would charge Rs. 1000/- plus parts. Not only is this amount small as compared to the savings, the chances that you will need to spend it are very slim indeed.
So bottom line: If VAT saving is all you are looking for, it is just not worth it. There are much bigger savings to be had if you are willing to take the chance.
