asked another vendor..he's giving asus sli premium for rs. 12000..

dunno why so much difference...r u in mumbai..? any good trust worthy vendor in mumbai..?

edit: between 3700+ and 4200+ which one should i get?

thx..

^ The main difference between the two as you know is single core vs dual core. The 3700+ has a clock speed of 2.2Ghz with 1MB of L2 cache. The 4200+ has a clock speed of 2.2Ghz on each core as well but with 512K of L2 cache for each core. (You could try looking for availability of the X2 4400+, that has 1MB of L2 cache on each core)

When it comes to games and single-threaded apps, you'd have to think of the X2 4200+ as a single core proc running @ 2.2Ghz, and there the 3700+ would be marginally faster than the X2 inspite of the same clock speeds on account of the extra L2 cache.

When it comes to multi-tasking and multi-threaded apps, the X2 would have 2 cores operating at 2.2Ghz - theoretically offering almost twice the performance of the 3700+ and will definately win hands down :)

Considering the difference between the two is 19K vs 26K, I'd say the X2 would be worth it. OC'ing the two is somewhat of a different story - the 3700+ would obviously clock much higher than the X2.

^ Absolutely! But right now, X2 seems to be pretty rare in India, and as per PCJedi only a certain model has been "officially" brought out by AMD here - think its the X2 4200+ :)

yep i waited and waited for X2 3800+ to come, it never did. And its not comming anytime soon.

So i got 3700+. And estimated cost i was quoted for X2 3800+ was insane 22.5K.

Now i have chance to get a very nice processor from US. Thats the only reason i am considering even selling the SD3700+.

If X2 was little cheaper here i would have gone for that. I am getting nice deal on FX-55 from the US and also chance to get X2 4600+ i am confused what to get but its gona be either of the two.

Ignoring costs the 2nd option for sure. But since you are buying pretty close to r520 launch (5th oct) i say you wait a few more days (you will need to wait anyways if you are going to order the fx-55) and chk out what ATi has to offer :).

cool..thx..will wait :)
r520 is grafix card right? i culd order fx55 n sli premium ? or therez a compatibility issue ?
thx a lot everyone :)

but i read crossfire is coming and not extreme..the good ones not coming..(dats the impression i got..but im a newbie) heh dunno will read again

Crossfire and SLi suck any1. Just a waste of money. Unless ofcourse your a rich dude willin to pay 1 Lakh on your PC.

im getting 3700+ :) not worth spending extra 25k on fx55...

motherboard i can get in december(8th or 9th)...for now i'll get the sli premium..

wish me luck :)

Thats better. You can always sell the SLI Premium in the TE market. Now you just finalise the entire config and put it here along with the cost. So that we guyz can tell any changes neccessary. All the Best.

thanks.. :)

ASUS Sli Premium 11000

AMD 3700+ SD 19750

7800GTX 31000 [which company..i dunno ]

2gb twinmos or corsair ram (whats good for overclocking a bit?) price dunno..

things i already have which be added to PC:

400GB Seagate sata

80gb maxtor

120gb samsung

8x dual combodvd/cd read/write sony

500w atrix psu

2 NIC

1 soundcard creative soundblaster (3years old)

1 Floppy drive

17" syncmaster 710n flatscreen

case+cpu cooler undecided (made a new thread in hardware forum)

replace samsung 120gb with a sata2 160gb..

I think you must go for a PSU from Antec to keep your system stable. As you are gouing to put 7800GTX it'll eat lotz of power. So get a True Power 2.0 550W.

For the 7800GTX i'd recommend XFX which is factory overcloccked and costs the cheapest. As for the PSU i's wudn't really recommend ATRIX/Colorsit even though its not too bad a psu. Forget funkiness for a while get a Antec to 550W. That 7800GTX coupled with a lot of hdd's and optical drives is going to suck a lot of power and i don't think you should compromise on it.
