PC Peripherals Need help in Upgrading!!

Hi

I have an old HP Pavillion PC with the config: p4(ht technology) 2.8ghz, 256mb ram and 40gb Hdd

Now i want to sell these and buy new ones. I can add maximum of 10-15k for this.I only want to buy the peripherals inside my CPU except HDD(i already bought 320gb seagate)

I dont have any idea of the Hardware. So actually what all do i need to buy for upgradation? and also please do suggest me with the costs and model numbers.

I am a resident of Hyderabad.

Thanks in Advance

I think you meant that you will buy only the components which are placed inside your cabinet.
The CPU is you processor(in your case Intel Pentium P4 2.8Ghz). The cabinet is the casing in which all of your components reside.

Procc -AMD Athlon II x4 620 - 5.2k

Mobo -Gigabyte 785GMT-UD2H - 5.9k

RAM -Transcend 2 gb 1333mhz -2.6k

PSU -Gigabyte superb 460w - 2.2k

Total =15,900/-

Is it necessary to buy a new one?? or can use the old one??

Older PSU had 20pin connectors, but newer motherboard have 24pin power connectors. so older PSU can't fit.

You have to buy a new one.

As you have mentioned 10-15k as budget i would suggest you a 10k config.

AthlonII X2 240(2cores, 2.8GHz, AM3)-3k

Biostar A785GE-3.3k(Has HD4200. Best Integrated graphics till date)

Transcend/Kingston 800MHz DDRII - 2k

Zebronics Pro 350w PSU - 1.5k

This would cost you 9.8k only :D. This itself is a huge performance upgrade from a single core CPU and 256MB RAM. This will suffice your needs. So just save the rest.

Get a sempron 140 instead and save 1.3k. You can easily unlock the core on that with the mobo mentioned above.

+1 for Karthi007

I dont think we can ask a person with little knowledge of h/w to get and single core and unlock it. What if he is unable to unlock and gets stuck with a single core sempron. It is better to stick with a AthlonII x2 240.
