I m facing weird problem,my pc won't boot if i shut down after playing or surfing for 6 hrs(cpu and gpu fans are working but there is no display)
So in order to start my pc i have to first remove my GPU and my pc boots perfectly and then if i
insert my GPU back, then also it starts perfectly for one or more days.
I have been using this PSU for 6 months, i had faced this problem in past ,but the occurrence of
this was not so often. Now Im facin this problem almost after 1 or 2 days.
im looking forward for your helps

That power supply was and is grossly inadequate for a GTX260 imho, right from the day you bought it or upgraded to a GTX260.

You are a very lucky person indeed.

Please be glad that it didn't go out with a bang and kill/burn everything it powered.

Please stop using that power supply right away.

Please get yourself a good quality power supply like Corsair VX450 or Corsair VX550. :)

Never said it HAS gone bad. Could be. That is why I suggested to try out another one to rule out the parameter.

^ Imho, your computer is saying it's malnourished. :)
so my gpu,cpu and mobo is fine ,i need to change to new PSU

so what should i be looking in a PSU for my system configuration

Also can anyone give an idea about price of Corsair vx 550 or 450 in mumbai

I had the exact same problem, in my case I use a generic PSU (500W). I have a 9800GT and my processor is Dual Core E2180 2Ghz. I OC'd my proccy to 2.5Ghz and this kind of problem started happening.
So, now I'm not OC'ing till I get a VX450, I think a VX450 would be sufficient for your system too :)

so can you tell what should i be looking in PSU for GTX 260 + AMD triple core phenom X3 @ 2.3Ghz

and how is that possible that corsair vx 450 WATTS PSU will be sufficient for my system and not 500 Watts PSU

will corsair vx 450 be enogh for my system

Dear sir,

The MSI GTX260, like most GTX260 cards, requires 2x PCIe 6-pin power connectors iirc (if i remember correctly).

And i strongly recommend/suggest and also sincerely request all to use a good quality power supply that has 2x PCIe power connectors native when using cards that require that.

eg. VX550.

The VX450 will be the bare minimum i would suggest for your system only if you are really unable to afford a VX550.

VX450 has only one 6-pin connector for the gfx card and one will have to use a '2x molex>PCIe' convertor cable for the second power input on the card and that imho (in my humble opinion) is not recommended at all.

You may go through this thread about one guy wanting to buy a new PSU for a card(temporary it seems) that needs only one PCIe connector.

Some people were suggesting VX450 very strongly and some were suggesting it's safer and wiser to spend little more and get VX550.

He said generic 500 and not any good quality 500.

I also found this thread in one of the sections and it explains quite a few things about PSUs in general while discussing the problems of a certain PSU that was supposed to be 600W.

You will find many more good threads here, especially if you search for PSU-related threads. :)

The VX450 can handle a lot of power, people report that they run around 550-600W on a VX450 without any problem (I don't own one, but my friend has it and he recommended it to me too).

Btw, I didn't know that GTX260 needed 2 PCIe 6-pin connectors (that's a lot of power hehe) which the VX450 does not have, so you're better off with a VX550 like pegasus said :)

The following lines and link in the quote-box i had posted in another psu-related thread here some days back. :)

Please do check the link and i hope the contents make sense and helps us all. :)

There were some guys claiming that the VX450 can provide 571W and so it's safe for so much more than 450W or something like that.

Please read this thread and i hope it helps you.
