Hi guys i just bought my leadtek 7600gt
and i have having a hell lot of problems installing it
my config is--amd 3500+,msi k8ngm2 il,1gb transcend,powersafe 400watts powersupply,windows xp sp2 (the cd says its a beta version)

i inserted the card in the slot and started my comp and i saw the gpu fan running and then windows detected the gpu and i inserted the driver cd and installed the drivers (without uninstalling the onboard display drivers) i realized this later, anyways i was going to reinstall windows so i formatted my harddrive and then reinstalled xp

now after i finshed installing the mobo drivers(not the vga driver) i shut the computer down and inserted the gpu but when i start the comp i can see the light on the tower but the screen is blank and when i removed the gpu and start the comp it comes on fine(then i temporarily instalelled the onbaord vga to get online

i tried removing and inserting the card and restarting a couple of times and after a few tries it booted up and windows detected the gpu and then i had to uninstall the onbaord vga and restart the comp, but after restarting the comp its the same story - a blank screen no bios startup screen ,but everything works fine if i remove the card,i have tried everything that i could change in the bios

what could be the problem?
please help

When you insert the card, and are abt to install the drivers, uninstall the onboard drovers first. Then run Driver Cleaner and clean out the drivers of the onboard.

Then install the nvidia drivers and restart.

Dont resttart immediately after uninstalling onboard and dont restart even after Driver cleaner runs. Restart once and for all only after you have installed nvidia drivers.

So, to recap do this.

1). Uninstall onboard drivers

2). Run driver cleaner

3). Install nvidia drivers

RESTART.

no yaar how can i do that
the monitor is plugged to the onbaord port only
as i said it did boot up twice

ammm
what are driver cleaner how do i get them
and if its a problem with xp atleast the bios screen should come up right?

and as i said the comp does not boot up after inserting the card
i tried installed the leadtek drivers first
but it says "no leadtek products found"

the monitor should be plugged to the card's port!!!

I edited my post because I thought it would be too obvious and stupid :P

lol..

@woozydevotee: Dont worry about it. People do make mistakes especially so when they are learning. It all adds up to your experience.

reminds me of this: I use three computers (1 PC and 2 MAC's ) at office which are lined up side by side. I start typing on a keyboard and wonder why its not getting displaying on the screen only to realize that i am typing on the wrong keyboard....:ohyeah: It happened with many people at our office...
