Need info about Nokia Maps License for Nokia 6110/6210 Navigator

Hi Guys, I was planning to go for a used Nokia 6110/6210 Navigator. Can someone tell me what license is required for using the maps features? Also, how much does it cost? If we don't update it, would it block access to all map navigation, or just voice guidance?

The maps are free, the voice navigation isn't.

Alternatively, you could try Garmin's Mobile XT. It works great on most S60 phones.

Thanks gforce, voice nav can be dropped:).

But in case of Garmin, I could also go for MapMyIndia's maps...they are pretty detailed as well. Anyways, Nokias come loaded with India maps, right?
 
^^wts Garmin's Mobile XT's cost? does it support stored maps?

and any other such softwares for mobile other than mgmaps?

Maybe yes, maybe not.

The E90 my dad purchased in August last year had the India maps pre-loaded while the N95-2 that I bought in late '07 didn't. Perhaps someone who has purchased a Nokia in India in the past couple of months can confirm.

It's not a big deal anyway. Hook up your phone and download whatever cartographic data you need via Nokia Map Loader.
 
Can anyone comment please on what gforce said?? How are the recent phones fairing in terms of cold-start and signal reception?

PS: Anyone from Kolkata, please let me know where I can buy a used mobile phone at a bargain. I'm heading there tomorrow, so please provide some guidance.
 
@diffuser911 .. im from delhi. nokia maps and google maps work fine here. i use an e71 btw.

i was in kolkata a few days back and nokia maps didnt work there. i was using google maps there. i have nokia maps 2 which came preinstalled. there however is a nokia maps 3 beta which might have maps for kolkata. like gforce said, the maps are free but the voice navigation isnt. i used a 3 month voice navigation trial. it was pretty good. however, i dont need it, so i didnt buy it later.
 
Thanks guys...I got myself a six months used 6210 from eBay. When I got the set, it was pretty banged up and needs replacing the faceplate and keypad...How much would it cost? Any help would be great...
