Guys,

I am planning to buy a bike (finally) in the next 30 days.

I will be travelling for about 2000km / month.

I abosolutely love the FZ16 (engine and looks), but the Internet reviews suggest that the mileage is just about 40km/litre, some have even reported 35km/litre.

Considering that I will be doing a lot of city commute, I would want to have a bike giving me at least 50km/litre.

I have read that the FZ16 can beat a P180 off the start line to 60kmph is it true ?

FZ16 owners pls throw light on the min max and avg mileage you get.

Any other suggestions for a 150cc bike with a good mileage (none of the Hero Honda's / Honda / Suzuki bikes appeal to me), the P150 claims a mileage of 55-60km/litre, is this true ? The only thing against the Pulsar is that the design is pretty old.

I am in a big dilema, pls help

Yes FZ will give u arnd 40-45 kmpl.... u can go for R15 also n yamaha have launched new colours n graphics of R15 but yes you'll get avg. arnd 4o kmpl... I own R15 n im very happy wid it.... U can also go for Apache 180 RTR n i think it'll give you avg. arnd 50 kmpl... I hope dis helps....

The best mileage you can get is 48kmpl and the worst is 35kmpl.If the bike is driven proper you can expect an average of 45kmpl.

Check this link for more info

Need a blend of style + economy + adrenaline rush(I know I am a greedy bugger :-D ) . Budget = 70K (all inclusive).

In short a good looking bike that can average 50kmpl.

btw is a new P150 dtsi to be launched sooner, I checked this link and the P150 looks ditto like a P180 (notice the small side fairings) and here it suggests a all black engine.

Any1 on how much mileage I can expect on the P150 DTSi, 55-60 (that is what I came across on the www) ?

Making a choice is getting a bit difficult now.

mine is giving about 40~44kmpl.
btw every new FZ ive rode, gives different feel. Some has gr8 pickup, some seems to be more refined, some has good mileage, some are neither good at pickup/mileage/top speeds.
And none was tuned of ny kind. Just the stock setings they got from showroom.
Luckily i got one with good pickup and avg mileage. Ive been using it for some while now. GOt it the first week of launch itself, [Nov end 08]. It has done 6k+ k and still as good as new.

btw, it uses KBX discs, which i think is a good reputed one and many other manus here uses discs from kbx too. And as per my experience, it does outperform p180 in start upto 60~65kmph.
The lower avg mileage is mostly due to wider front and rear tyres, and the gear ratios. Its for pickup, and there is no other bike better than it on city riding. And stunts are like child's play on it. Every newbie can do a couple of wheelies :D though stoppies need a bit of practice or will end up breaking jaw bone:bleh:

ill be getting a high performance air filter from k&n soon for bout 3.8k nd will tell hows it goin. Heard it ll improve the 3rd, 4th and 5th gears real good and can hit higher top speed much easier and faster w/o breaking a sweat.

Hmm, Average thing totally depends upon the Riding factors, how you ride within running in period of engine (mostly first 2000kms) and where you ride.. Even then your FZ wont exceed 50kmpl at all.. The overall average can be around 42-43 for FZ..

In 150cc range, you can take a look for R15.. I own the bike, it gives around 40kmpl average.. That's pretty cool for such bike. You can go for Honda Unicorn or Pulsar 150.. P150 is considered best for average..

@d0m1naTOr - K&N filter makes your top gears pretty smooth for riding, I've experienced that, I dont think it'll improve your top speed.. But K&N filters are much better than stock :) go for it :)

thnx

i was thinking of bit cheaper ones. I think their performance range starts from 2.4k. And Green Cotton too has good opinion.

i feel my engine too much revving when i touches 100 now.

I have managed to extract around 48Kmpl from the fz-16 but that was constant highway riding of around 300-350 Kms with a lot less gear shifts and braking. If you like to cruise rather than rip then i guess you should be able to achieve an FE of around 45kmpl even in city conditions.

Only two options that fulfill the same.

Suzuki GS150 R and Honda Unicorn !

Hell, Pulsars are so damn common and they'll continue to be sold with small modifications every now and then.

i get 60 and i am rash rider of bike....but i take care of bike...and normally prefer long routes which are free than short one with hell traffic...coz i love riding with speed... and trust me.... i can give dam fight to P180...
so Honda Unicorn....:)

I have a 4 yr old P-150 n a 2009 P-180 , my old bike still gives me mileage arnd 50-55 @ avg speed arnd 70-75 n 180 is giving arnd 45-48 now
