i have some ogm files with dual audio and english subs in them. I need to convert them to avi or wmv keeping both the audio streams and subs, to playback on a dvd player.

searched the web high and low, but process is quite cumbersome and does not work always. (only video but no audio  )

would appreciate a lot if any1 know any convertor that could simply the job!!:)

It is possible, but only the first stream will run in Divx DVD players (which normally is english, or at least in Phillips 5106K Divx DVD model and below).

So if you want both the streams, you'll have to make two copies of the same video with different streams.

If you want to play it in your computer, then you can convert OGM to AVI, have it run on Divx Player/Vlan media player with dual streams.

Here the procedure :

Rename the extension from OGM to AVI :P

That's it. OGM is nothing but a container codec just like avi. 98% of the time it will use the same codecs typical AVI files use (i.e Divx/Xvid).

If you want recode the ogm into an avi so that you can play it in your Divx DVD player, you'll have to strip the streams off the OGM, reincode the video to Avi, then add 1 stream of your choice. If you want the tut then post, its a little long.

I don't know about subs though. my 5106k Divx DVD player could even run .OGM files, and it would pick up the subtitle (.ssa?) file along with it. All I did was burn the ogm and ssa files just like the way I downloaded them. But ofcourse the player could not switch to stream no.2.

my lg divx player does not recognise ogm files:( - i burned an ogm file along with a converted avi file on a cdrw and tried it.

like i said before - while converting ogm to avi i dont get any of the two audio streams, even when the ogg codec is installed on my pc.

also if possible please post a guide on the conversion method :hap2:

Follow this conversion method.

Start off by downloading this : Virtualdubmod

Unpack the rar, run Virtualdubmod.exe

Click on FILE - Open Video File

Select your OGM episode.

After the OGG file has been parsed, Streams - Stream List.

You'll see 2 stream, no.2 will be English (you can open it up first in Vlan Media Player to make sure), select Stream No.2, Right Click, Select FULL PROCESSING MODE.

Then, right click and click Compression. Now you NEED to install LAME's MP3 Codec.

Though I beleive the default Mp3 codec " Mpeg Layer - 3 " should work equally good, but I haven't tested it yet.

Anyways, click on either Mpeg Layer 3 or Lame Mp3, if you have Lame select 160 kbps CBR. If you're going with Mpeg Layer 3, select 40 kbit Stereo (Remember, I haven't tested it yet so I can't confirm it'll work as good as LAME Mp3).

Then Click SAVE WAV, enter the filename audio.mp3

.mp3 is very important to enter. I know you're defying the .WAV logic here but do it.

Now once its been compressed and saved, click OK. FILE - SAVE AS - Direct Stream Copy where it says FULL Processing Mode, enter any filename and save.

Close VirtualDUB, and open it again. File - Open Video File and select the Avi file you JUST saved in the last step. Then head on to STREAM - Stream List - Add Stream and select the audio.mp3 you extracted before (the stream list should be blank first, if not, close and delete everything and go back to the first line of this post and pay attention this time).

Click OK.

FILE - SAVE AS - Direct Stream Copy again and its done. You've got your AVI file with English audio (or Japanese if you chose Stream No.1), now you can burn it and watch it on your Divx Capable DVD player :)

Repping you dude!

Yeah I noticed that too, but since i never used Japanese I never payed much attention to it, I'll revise the tutorial soon.

was doing some research on the web abt this - seems that windows media player will by default play all sound tracks in an avi file.

also learnt that an avi file can have subs as well as around 256 audio streams in it!!:ohyeah:

Just for Info: If any1's interested to know :)

The converted avi with both eng and japanese audio streams plays fine in the dvd player with option to change between any of the two streams. Subs can be viewed even if they are embedded in the avi file!! :hap2:

Which DVD player is that?

LG DS9533CPM

Also did you convert with virtualdubmod or just renamed the extension??

i used only virtualdub mod - just like u said!!

i renamed one ogm file to avi, other file was saved as avi but had both audio streams. Dvd player hanged while reading first file, but second file played without any trouble. i could switch between the two streams from dvd menu - they show up as audio stream 1 and audio stream 2 - not eng or japanese.

i had put comments for each audio stream as eng or japanese language, but they dont seem to be saved along with the avi file.
