Hey guys, I am intending to modify my rig. I am very new to chennai, and I'll be staying here for sometime.

Can you tell me where is the service centre of Abucus ? I need to RMA my Biostar motherboard.

Besides, I also need names/locations of some reliable and reasonable computer shops to buy graphic card, monitor, HDD etc.
Thanks in advance :)

Adding to what DA gave you

I would suggest you visit Ritche st for all your computer needs

Some of the stores I frequent there are

Samta Infotech ( my fav store)

RC Automation

Delta Pheriperals

Mahavir Multimedia

Thanks guys ! Btw, I reside in Tambaram. So which will be the convenient way of going to the Ritche street ? Besides, is that Abacus service point also in ritche street ?

board metro train from tambaram to Egmore ... and hire auto rickshaw to Ritchie street(RS 50-60). this is the way i go to ritchie street.on you way back you can even carry an entire rig in the train.

Tambaram east or west?... i reside close to tambaram East.

MRTS would be best and convenient option for you, unless you want to ride your car, that too in offpeak traffic

Its close to Ritche St, @ walkable distance

Experience Ritche St at its full glory on a Saturday, it'll be as flocked as Ranganathan St ( TNagar)

@Spectre

Perdon my ignorance, What is MRTS ? Is Ritche street open on all days ?

@jerry,
I reside at west tambaram.. Its 2km from the railstation towards chengalpet beside NH45.

No MRTS from Tambaram. Its Mass Rapid Transport System - the flying train :-P

Shops in Ritchie are not open on Sunday. Don't blindly buy from any of the above shops. Go around, enquire and then buy. I bought a Corsair HX750 for 8k better when it was about 8.6k in the market :-P

Since ages! :bleh:

So much for the moderation here! :P

MRTS = on an elevated line barring few stations. Chennai has the normal local network a la Mumbai. :)

sabby - get a print of this map here. The orange line indicates the MRTS line whereas the grey indicates the local network. HTH.

@Gannu

thanks again.. I've seen the map before but didn't know the meaning of the colors. :D

SO, should I just take an auto from egmore or commute by bus ? Which bus-stop should I say to the conductor ?

Just get the E18, 1B, that Tambaram to Higcourt buses. The Stopping name is LIC or Shanthi Theatre. From this stop Ritchie street is walkable distance.

Or Check this website http://my.metrocommute.in/ for chennai buses

you can say Ritchie st..
or Simson..
or Bata showroom - mount road...

just ask P orr and sons or Simsons if taking those buses...

its just back of porr and sons...

my bad, i meant the suburban train from tambaran to egmore and got mixed up with MRTS :ashamed:

From Egmore station, take any bus towards Anna Square and get down @ Annapoorna Hotel / Dams Road ( looks like it)

All conductors would know Ritche St.

Avoid Autos as much as possible

Chennai Bus Routes and Suburban Trains connecting Egmore (Egmore, Chennai Egmore RS, Maternity Hospital, Dasaprakash, Egmore North R.S.) with Triplicane (Triplicane O.T (Corpn. Sc, Triplicane, Thiruvallikeni RS) - MetroCommute.in

WoW. Are you talking about that Bengali Hotel ? I've been there before. I've also been to the LIC stop / spencers. So can you tell me how far is it from those places ?

OT : wow so many members from chennai :P nice.

No suggestion from my side regarding the routes (am really bad at these) and above posts pretty much sums it up. All the best and enjoy ritchie.

from LIC / SPENCERS it would be 15-20 min by walk or Rs25 by auto.
