Need Speakers + DAC suggestions

Soooo my stay got extended by 2 months :D
I'm thinking of buying good speakers and DAC while i'm still here.
DAC I only know of citypulse 2.03eII USB and zero dac. USB is a MUST since i only have a laptop here and wont buy a normal rig. more suggestions welcome

Total budget 1000SGD for both dac and speakers. Already bought a cambridge azur 540A V2 amp :) used ones will do, so if you come up links of someone selling, please post ehre :P

mostly latin n greek. . . Many of those brands may not be popular here due to pricing. . . Only ones i could find were the quads 11l(havent heard)and the wharfdale(did not like). . .
better register at hifivision.com. . . Guys there know better and will help. Its an indian site.
 
Hmmm. Currently looking at a VALAB NOS DAC and some speakers.

Valab Dac-First Impressions - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio

Apparently this guy is selling the newer revision of the dac with a 1ppm tcxo and better caps ( see page 3 of the link, the guy's caps fail on the dac ) which are suposedly better. ANyways if it turns out to be crap, there's always the citypulse :P

even if the quality is a bit suspect, it seems its giving out very good sound, with recapping it becomes better.

For speakers here are my options.

Tannoy 609'

Monitor Audio Silver 5i floorstand speakers

ALR Jordans

Quad 11L2

I'm leaning a bit on the tannoy, since its the cheapest and ummm want to try it out first before getting better speakers. I kinda prefer floorstanders because I dont have ledges/tables to keep the bookshelves lol.
 
Hunt down the used market. A friend got a Usher amp there at 50% discount, it was used but like new condition. Impossible to tell what you'll find, but I don't like any of the speakers in your list though I've not heard the ALRs.

This is quite an old post, already bought ProAc Tablette 2, Musical Fidelity A100 amp :D

Right now using a Travagans 3" full range speakers and a Tube amp + Dac cause the place i stay now is very tiny :ashamed: ProAcs and A100 have gone to cold storage :(
 
Sorry, I didn't look at the time of the original post. I remember you picked up the ProACs, thought you were on the hunt again...

The VALAB died after 3 months. now all i hear from it is hiss. Havent tried any inputs other than USB though, very lazy to RMA it.

Looking at Response D2s and a nice 300B/KT88 tube amp. Should be able to afford them next month or so :D
