Need suggestion for 2.1

I know its on short notice, but i am set to be purchasing a 2.1 channel speakers by the weekend.
Few things i would like to clear:




a) Budget: ~12k (Doesnt means i need to spend all of it. Any good set with less pricing.. def Yes!)
b) Preference: Music (not an addict though), movies and gaming tie in for a second place. All three are not too far.
c) Do not like the 5.1 channel setup, courtesy hordes of wires.
d) Prefer a punchy bass via subwoofer than a boomy one.
e) Prefer an in warranty set unless the set is ridiculously good to not import.










1) I have been inclined to get the Corsair SP2500.
Price for the same has been about 13k here in ncr and i think is manageable.


These are not THX certified but have been able to sustain quality till max volume settings with negligible distortion. I dont intend to blast the vol anyway.
As per my knowledge, i havent really heard of any other speaker coming in the striking distance of these in the given price range, and also no other speaker set seems to be due in for a release (true?).


My research regarding the corsair speaker has been positive till now, save for one site which has pointed out some shortcomings.

The powerful bass, once put under a tight leash comes across as dynamic and full bodied. It fills in the low end effortlessly and can go fairly deep. But it lacked somewhat in terms of definition. In some tracks we were overwhelmed by the boomy bass, while the tight punch we expected wasn't there. Reducing the bass reduced all impact and hence was pointless.

Seems to be nit picking, but if the woofer indeed is boomy, its a dampener.
I would like the SP2500 owners, or those who have heard these to a good extent to confirm the negatives mentioned pls.

How much do these negative pts hamper speaker's performance?




2) Alternatives ??


i) What are the other options i can consider ?
( No Audioengines/Gigaworks T3 pls)


ii) A member has suggested Logitech z623
How good are these and more esp how do these compare with the Corsair sp2500..?
Price difference seems to be very big with L z623 being half of what sp2500 sells for.




3) Pls do mention where i can take a demo for these suggested speakers in Delhi/Noida, Including the SP2500 as i havent been able to hear them till date.
 
at 10-12K one of the very good ones is also Klipsch Promedia 2.1

Check out their reviews. Currently using them for like now 3-4 yrs no complain what so ever. However their sound knobs has carbon collecting issue which is easily treatable. But solid built, solid sound,
 
i havent seen 2500 available for under 12K at all, so it aint the same/fair comparision. for options higher than 15K which fall in Corsair category, do check out a 2.1/2.0 suggestions people have suggested. Learning myself all along the way :)
 
Smc quoted me 13k for the sp2500 with free shipping. As far as my research goes sp2500 will suit you better. Dont go for z623 i found them boomy. I personally have been on lookout for speakers in this budget and have almost finalized the sp2500. M50w are also a set of very good 2.1 speakers but they cost around ~19k.
 
If you ask me. Then i prefer you the two best speaker.
1. Logitect Z623 because This is THX certified speakers pumps out generous amount of bass and powerful sound for your PC or other audio sources.
2. Creative Gigaworks T3 because This set of premium speakers from Creative sings out loud with punchy bass and crispy vocals. Truly good for your entertainment.

Been looking up info on the z623. And as stated already, Gigaworks T3 are def out.

Should you finalize on SP2500, i suggest either bargain a little or take the free shipping and enjoy the advantage of tele shopping, as the box carrying them is as big as 21" CRT Tv, and these speakers are in excess of 15.70 Kg if i am not mistaken.

I dont intend to stretch my budget anymore so M50W def is not an option.
 
1. Well Logitech Z623 is no best speaker, it is not even good speaker when it comes to music :) THX certification in Logitech is just nothing. What logitech knows is to provide thunderous amount of bass in their speakers that's it and that bass is too boomy.
2. Once I have recommended Creative Gigaworks T3 to one of the fellow member of TE as it has got quite a good reviews and he purchased it too. He was coming from the AL MX5021. After listening to T3, he said, it's bass is not that punchy as Mx5021 and MX5021's highs are quite good and if I remember correctly so he ended up selling his T3 after 5-7 days only.

Bass is not the punchy stuff i was looking for. Also the set doesnt makes for a huge jump over the MX5021 set's performance in certain areas.

The 2 years warranty and from Corsair brand.. i think 12.5k well spent.
We all know the power supply to our homes and the importance of a good brand which readily assists in RMA.

Can you do a little comparison between sp2500 and mx5021?
And is the bass boomy? Haven't yet got mine due to exams :(
 
The comparison is going to be difficult as i am still fiddling with the settings/options.
Bear in mind that my set is yet to experience the full burn in and i think it ll only get more impressive with time.


- CSP2500 has got the option for subwoofer setting, but none for treble. You do that by choosing the EQ presets. MX had both but no presets. I still prefer MX option here.
- CSP2500 hasnt got the wireless remote which really is a dampener.
- Cables are def short. Esp the line in cable.
- The sats are not wall mountable.

Built quality is premium. But the designing is very economical. I would have preferred a more classier looking set.
Mids are somewhat lacking in comparison. There used to be a distinctive clap with MX's sats which is missing on the CSP's sats. Now this is STRICTLY for few songs (instruments actually) which touched that frequency. So i am guessing CSP has a void with its freq response somewhere but ONLY rarely u ll notice.
You can reduce this by choosing EQ settings, BUT CSP heavily compensates for the mid's comparative lack with its ambience. The woofer doesnt overpowers the sats, rather combines with them beautifully.
Woofer is def not punchy but the sort of boomy which makes u reconsider your tilt towards punchy bass.

CSP is not THX certified but i think they avoided it for the cost factor. Certainly didnt distort even when i played it on very high volumes.
Vis a vis the MX5021 set, the MX had all the stellar components.. the sats and the woofer. The double driver and the tweeter were very distinctive during playback, where as with the CSP2500.. all the components come together to give you a very refined ambience. Whatever the lack is there you can compensate it to a good extent with the setting as i have discovered in the short experience i had with them.
Biggest strength for CSP i think is the ambience which it creates and it gets better when you crank the volume up a bit (not like crazy cranked up level.. the normal hearinging level). The consistency is very very good. Fills the room with a distinct impact, and dare i say.. that wasnt the same with MX5021 (open for debate, this point).

Verdict: Its a difficult comparison as both these sets excel in different spheres. MX had some real good strengths going in its favor, SP has a solid ambience working for itself. If asked to choose between both, i think i ll keep one set each in different rooms. MX for music and CSP with my PS3/Movies.
