Hmm....Guys...What about Nuforce NE 6?? I am also thinking of buying IEM in the same range(around 2k) ..Is NE 6 AVAILABLE IN INDIA??

^ The soundstage is better than my NE7m...

Have also tried playing CSS with the M6 ... and definitely they are better than the NE7m / NE6

^ Soundstage of what is better than your NE7M ? NE6 :S ? They are both the same isn't it . M6 I don't think has a soundstage as good NE6 but its inferior to the M6 in rest of the departments. Surprisingly M9 which is cheaper has a soundstage as good/better than NE6/NE7M.

If everyone is going to hijack the thread..may as well..

In the market for a new pair of IEM's. Was using the RE-2 for the past year, served me very well. The sound in one of the plugs blacked out recently. Guess they need to work on the build quality, otherwise brilliant set of earphones.

Anyway, don't have a strict budget but can shell out upto 5k if something's really really worth it. Going to use it with D2 along with an E5. Need the widest sound stage possible with absolute clarity. Not too much into bass but shouldn't be negligible. Usually listen to Classical/Progressive/Psychedelic rock and the sort. A bit of post-punk as well, so shouldn't be muddy on the lows.

Any advice? Should I stick to RE-2 and order another pair or does something else fit?

^ Widest soundstage under 5k would be the RE-1 but it needs an amp costing twice its price to drive them to their best .:P Other options you have are Brainwavz M2 which will be a definite step up from the RE-2. There's Kilipsch S4 as well but its slightly on the bassy/muddier side and you might not like it since you are coming from an RE-2.If you can stretch your budget a little you can order the IEM Radius DDM as well :).

^Faheem RE252 has got great width but only good depth? Or vice versa?
Instead of getting RE1 and an amp, RE252 might be a much better option if you could up the budget to 7K, Fah33m has his RE252 on sale. Coming from RE2 would mean you like brighter, colder IEMs. RE252 should fit the bill better than RE1. RE252 is a top tier IEM. :)
M2 definitely is warmer right? Not dark, but not as bright as RE2/RE252?

^ Ohh I completely forgot about that ,Yes if you could up your budget to 7k you could get a brand new RE-252 from me . And yeah it would be huge huge upgrade from the RE-2. It doesnt have the widest soundstage like RE-1 but easily a soundstage better than most other IEMs you can get under 10k :D . It has RE-0 like treble detailing , slight warm midrange and amazingly deep sub bass as well.

M2 isnt very neutral .It is lot more warm sounding than RE-2 , RE-252 etc. But that warmth kind of gives it the perfect blend of musicality and neutrality. It will be a little different sound signature compared to RE-2 whereas RE-252 would actually be a RE-2 like sound only lot lot better and detailed :D

Lol ,

Prevaz Have you Heard a RE-252 ever ? .Once you Hear It you will Never Talk About It again .I consider RE2,RE1 And Re-0 And Re-Zero Better IEMS ,RE-252 Was Not Upto My Taste .Before i Had Given The RE-252 To Faheem I Had Tested the Same .I did Not Like it ,Maybe My Taste in IEMS Is different ,So It Could Be Possible Someone Else Also Hates It .any IEM If Purchased Should Be Auditioned IMHO .

^ No, unfortunatey I didn't hear them. Did read many reviews which were very positive though. Unfortunately, we in south India hardly have got any store where we could audition IEMs or atleast headphones or headphone amps. :(

We really need more stores which can let us audition the best gear in a properly set environment :(. Its very difficult for one to put in 15-20k in IEMs,cans etc without knowing what it would sound like .Even if we do end up liking it after the purchase we have no idea if the other options in out list would please us more than the one we bought. :P.

Prevaz ,

Ask Faheem If He Can Lend the Same To you ,Might Be you Can PM Him As He Has Two now .Then you will Have a Better idea of the same .For Auditioning i Do My Best in My city As Much I Can .Local distributors Are Kanjoos Fly Choos Type People

I am planning on a small loaner program for the IEMs that I have and don't use.I think all of us who have multiple IEMs and can afford to participate should do so .I am a little busy with some personal work, college etc but we should start with it soon. All those who are interested please PM me. :)

Faheem can you comment on this?
I have settled on buying RE-2.
I hope the quality is better than my PL30.

Can't really blame the retailers. Not much of a market for high end IEMs and headphones here. When I gave my JH13s in for the re-shell they had all the high end universal iems for audition and I also saw stuff like the Edition 8 and 9 that were kept out for people to audition. Although I was told that a lot of their customers for high end gear are tourists which makes it viable to maintain a showroom and keep stuff out for audition. There was a stage when I was thinking about buying the HD650 and the retailer in Chennai said he hadn't sold even one yet since he took up the dealership for Sennheiser........ Amarbir seems to be an exception though, which is good.

Starting with 2K IEMs, this thread has gone to $200 IEMs and $300+ amps. If we maintain this speed, in the not so distant future, few people in TE will own 2-3 customs :P

customs ....?? !! ...where in delhi can i find a good audiologist to get my ear impressions done. :P ( dollar rates are down ...hurry)
btw get RE2 <below 2K>get M2<,below 3.5K> ....get radius ddm <below 5K.> ( really.. $ rates are down 110 equals ..4875!!) DBA or re252< below 7K>,....forget evetything else!!

^ OT : Can I remind you that your review of Mustang is due? :P

Not happening anytime soon. No camera, no time and more importantly no player with a proper line out. Thinking of getting a 2nd hand gen 5 ipod. There's someone here who does the same redwine mod for about $100.

Everywhere I'v read about the M2's, the bass has mentioned. Is it over the top? I mean it should be balanced not too bassy. Secondly, is the soundstage wider/clearer/deeper than that of the RE-2? The build quality? As for the Radius DDM, what are the pro's and con's? What about the NE-(Whatever it is)?!

Can't stretch the budget that much mate, also have a Nook arriving soon that I need to pay for ;)

I didn't find it to be particularly impressive, there were a couple more people on this board that had trouble with one side blacking out. It cost more to ship it back and get a replacement then it is to order a new pair so the warranty is not of much use. Having said that, it's a very nice set of IEM's, certainly the best you can get for the price. Will order another one if nothing else fits and hope it lasts longer than a year this time.

Another couple of question:

Can the D2 drive the RE-0 without an amp? Is it built better than the RE-2? What about Phonak PFE's? Price? Availability?
