I'm planning to replace the aging scooter fleet in my factory. The bikes should be cheap, have good mileage and should be low on maintenance. Any suggestion? I have no idea about bikes.

Get a 125cc model, very good price / performance / mileage ratio.

Btw what were scooters being used in the factory and if they were customized then i suppose you will need to customize the bikes also right ?

^ Exactly what I was going to suggest !

The Platina is all the rage these days and I'm sure no one will complain. :P

Platina would be good IMO. They are cheap good mileage and low on maintenance.

Decent looks too.

Get Hero Honda Passion Plus or Splendor Plus. decent bikes with good mileage... price comes under pocket ,has good resale value too.

Platina +1

good mileage, decent price and low maintenance. Not sure of resale, but i think u wont be selling it anytime soon, rite?

Go for HH. I dont really trust Bajaj bikes for reliability. Best to go for a tried and tested product especially if you want only reliability. Bajaj bikes are for riding pleasure with a good price. But unfortunately reliability is still less than HH.

That is completely wrong. The higher end Bajajs do have some bad gear shifts, but apart from that, they are completely trouble free.

To be honest, almost all bikes in India are reliable enough. Except Bullets I guess!

:P you just want to make a point that bullets suck :P

anyways..

spares of bajaj are cheaper as compared to HH but so is the quality.

according to majority of mechanics bajaj engine's lock earlier than HH ... earlier in terms of kilometers and not time... although i'm not sure how much of that is really true.. may be some moto-gurus can shed some light on this...

as per my view, only classical type people go for HH. They dun care too much on mileage, power, looks or anythin[ i mean low end HH]. So their usage too wud be like that only...might not even know what rev..ing is. So shud last long and locks much late.

But those who pick according to reasons like mileage, power or looks might probably go for anythin other than HH [ZMA is an exception]. And ride according to their needs...might over rev as well. So might lockup early.

im saying this coz i havnt seen any one even trying to rev on a splendor .. to glamour. But have seen many trying to kill the engine of platina, discover, stunner, and even gladiators.

So not much point in "anythin other than HH locks up early".

My bro owns a glamour and its a pure piece of shit, even if he never even over rev or do anythin harmful for it. And so is some of my frend's glamour... So as per me, HH sucks[again except ZMA :D].

ALso proper servicing is a key point. Heard bajaj service centres doesnt do enuf justice on thatfrom any, but not in my area atleast. Here bajaj servicing is one of the best, yamaha and HH being the worst.

Madnav --- I have a friend who has a Pulsar 150(the first version. No DTSi) and it's been used for more than 7 years. Before him, his bro used it. Various office boys have used and you can imagine the kind of rough usage it would have seen.

It work perfectly even now. It's a little gruff but that's because they dont get it serviced regularly. After one service, it's back to purring. It's probably done 70-80 thousand kms. So, I dont believe people who say HHs are more reliable.

I'm not saying the HHs are bad bikes, but neither are Bajajs.

Ok, Im really confused now.

The suggestions from you people seem to be:

Bajaj CT100, Platina100 or Platina125??
Hero Honda Splendor Plus

I am not that concerned about the resale value because I really don't plan to sell them until they become junk or too expensive to maintain. What I want is really good mileage and something that is not too expensive to buy/maintain either. I'm not that concerned about the looks as it is for the employees and mainly for work purposes. So it should be something practical.

Just get the cheapest and smallest. If the HH workshop is closer, then get the HH. If it's Bajaj, get the Bajaj.

From what I understand, you will be giving the vehicles to your employees to ride around the factory and for relatively short distances outside it. It's not like they are going to be riding it for 50-60 kms everyday.

So, performance, looks, comfort isnt a factor. Reliability, FE and cost of maintainence are the important things. Just get the cheapest.

Ideally, the HH Splendor or Bajaj Platina !

You could gather some inputs locally to aid your decision.

Leave 125cc bikes out of the equation.
