Proccy: AMD Athlon II X3 425(2.7Ghz, 3 cores, 1.5MB Cache) ~3150

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA74GMT-S2 ~2700

RAM: G. Skill 2x2GB 1333MHz DDRIII ~2600

HDD: 500 GB WD Blue ~2000

GPU: Powercolor DDR5 HD5670 ~5300

Cabinet: Zebronics Bijili ~1100

PSU/SMPS:Corsair CX400 ~2800

ODD: L.G. GH22NS50 OEM SATA DVD-Writer 950 ~950

Total ~ 20600

PS: 1280x728 is quite tiny, monitor upgrade suggested. Atleast 19" widescreen. Will take 3.5k to upgrade from 15" wide.

CPU - AMD Phenom II X2 555BE ~ 5k (Has high unlocking success. But only if u wish to gamble. As u wont upgrade for 4 years u can choose the AthlonII X4 630 for the smae price)
Motherboard - Gigabyte 785GMT-USB3 ~ 5.8k (Go for USB 3.0 board as its a long term upgrade)
GPU - ATi Radeon HD4670 ~ 4k (For such a low resolution the HD5770 would be a waste. Plus u dont have the budget for it.)
RAM- 2GB SKill 1333MHz RAM ~ 2.8k
HDD- 500GB WD Blue ~ 2k
CABBY-CM Pro Elite 310 ~ 1.5k
PSU- FSP SAGAII 400w ~ 2k

Total: ~23k.
If on a very tight budget then go for the Biostar TA785G3 ~ 4k. Not sure of availability of the same in Blore though.

Thanks a lot on the quick replies people

Well gaming depends on resolution. If its a tiny 15" or 17" monitor a HD4670/HD5670 will max out all games. If its a 19"/20" monitor then the HD4850 will max out most games. If its a 22" monitor then the HD5770 will give give u decent frame rates.

So whats the size and resolution of the monitor? Is it a 15"/17" with 1280*720 resolution? Are u planning to upgrade it?

I am plannin to buy a 20 or 21" monitor,I am going to singapore so may buy a bigger one there If i get it cheaper, but lets keep it at 20"

also abt the mobo...wat shd I get don't need usb3, crossfire wud be a bonus, i'll buy him another gfx card nxt yr and he'llbe happy!

also is unlocking the cores tedious? and does it overheat once unlocked to 4 cores?

Since I am not gonna be arnd all the time is it advisable to unlock and leave it coz he knows nuthn abt oc'in...evn I am a n00b

HOW about

CPU- AMD Phenom II X2 555BE(3.2Ghz, 2 cores, 6MB L3 Cache) 4900

MOBO- Gigabyte GA-MA74GMT-S2 2700

RAM- 4GB(2*2) G. Skill F3-10600CL9S-2GBNT DDRIII 5200

HDD- 500 GB WD Blue 2000

Cabinet- CM Elite 310 1500

PSU- FSP SAGAII 400w 2000

GFX- Sapphire 512MB DDR5 HD5670 5300

unsure abt gfx and proccy

I am not really sure whether 740G mobo can unlock the 555BE as it works at HT 1.0 with AM3 proccies due to chipset limitations

AMD Phenom II Core Unlocking Guide for X2 550BE / X3 710 & 720BE - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

There is no unlock success reported for dat model.

If u are worried about unlocked cores then better go for the AthlonII X3 435~3.6k. Its a good gaming CPU.

Gamers: Do You Need More Than An Athlon II X3? : Why Pay More?

Its a little difficult to monitor temps of the unlocked cores.

CPU- AMD Phenom II X3 435 3600/ or I saw X4 620 for 3.5 on some recent post

MOBO- Gigabyte GA-MA74GMT-S2 2700

RAM- 4GB(2*2) G. Skill F3-10600CL9S-2GBNT DDRIII 5200

HDD- 500 GB WD Blue 2000

PSU- FSP SAGAII 400w 2000

ABove-17k

GFX- Sapphire 512MB DDR5 HD5670 5300 ...Is this the best gfx I can get in my budget

total 22300, I can spend a lil more(2k) if the perfomance is increased by a lot

Ok here is what I suggest . The OP Pmed me for the config rather than linking me to the thread here :p

1. X4 630--- 4.8k ( Now X2 555 unlocking is not as good as in the 1st few batches , plus for the usage an X30 is more than enough )

2. Asus M4A87TD/USB3 / Biostar TA890GXE --- 5.8k ( 785 boards are too old guys :p...please update...in same prices we get lot of 880G boards now)

3. 500GB Seagate 7200.12 ---- 2k

4. RAM 2GBX 1 DDR3 Gskill ---- 2.7k ( Add 2GB later)

5. Cabinet + PSU ---- CM Elite + Gigabyte Superb 460W/FSP 400W ---- 3.5~4k

6. MSI/Sapphire HD 5670 512MB DDR5 --- 5.3~5.5k

As of these 740G chipsets these are meant usually for the X2s wo any OCs and the build quality is pathetic to say the least , wont survive with a quad core for long
