Guys basically i need your expertise in the fields which i have listed in undecided . I was initially planning to go for intel i5 2500k + a weak GPU but on reading on forums and threads here i thought a good enough CPU with a good GPU will be a better idea for games .My primary use is gaming , along with HD movies and some coding by the side.
On discussing with my colleagues these are the only two places i know of as i am new in bangalore .
SP road : golcha
Binary world : indiranagar
I have been particularly warned against going to a random shop in SP road , so please suggest me a shop or binary world review if the prices seem ok? I need to buy it this weekend so please need your help before then
Thanks a lot :)

Intel i5 2400-10.5k OR i3 2120-6.5k
Gigabyte B75M-D3H-4.5k
Gskill Ripjaws 2X2GB 1600mhz-1.7k
Segate 500GB 7200RPM-3.5k
Sapphire HD7770-9k OR Sapphire HD7850-16k
Seasonic S12ii 520W-4k OR Corsair GS500-4.3k
Nzxt Gamma-3k
DELL ST2220L-8.5k
Logitech MK200 Combo-0.7k
Samsung OR HP ODD-1k
Considering your budget i've given you best rig within,You will have to compromise high level graphic detail considering HD7770 gives mid performance on Full HD reso gaming.
Hope this helps.:)

Segate 500GB 7200RPM-4k
Cooler Master GX550W-4.5k OR Corsair GS500-4.3k
Nzxt Gamma-2.4k

Hard-drive prices have come down a little, 500GB drives are going for ~3500/- -->3800/- and 1TB's have dropped to ~4500/-.

About the NZXT Gamma, it is priced a lot higher in Bangalore; close to ~3000/- from Golccha I.T. Trade.

And finally Seasonic S12II 520W ~4200/- is a better buy in Bangalore, Tirupathi Enterprises has a good base-ops there.

Corrected the HDD pricing,I may have to write down Seasonic availability considering it changes with the each state.

Hard disk 2 TB

Hi guys,
Thanks for the prompt replies !
I just wanted to add that i need a 2 TB hard disk. 500 gb will be too low . I have got around 6-700 of HD movies only and i wanted to store all my pics without having to delete something everytime!
Also is 2X2 gb RAM 1600 enough or is 2 X4 gb 1333 enough? I wanted to know because i dont want to get another 4 gigs after an year when i could have got 8gigs initially.
Initially my budget for gpu was 5k and i increased it to 7k to accomodate 6770 as i have a 22'' LED , but not sure if i would be able to accomodate another 2k :( as i wont be able to cut down on the Hard disk capacity.
Can someone please give me insights on motherboard selection? I was recommended MSI H61M-P21 B3 , to go along with i3 thats around 2900, is there a major performance boost with a mobo costing around 4.5 k or has it got to do with more RAM slots etc?
Thanks a lot for your patience guys ! Seriously glad i found this forum before i bought my PC!!

Hi Shasahank here are your answers --
  • A seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB hard-drive will set you back by approximately ~6500/-. Street prices might, might-not be lower.
  • Go for a 1x 4GB 1600MHz RAM module for now, if budget is holding you back; 1333MHz RAM modules have a slight performance penalty vis-á-vis 1600MHz RAM modules. Add another 4GB 1600MHz stick later.
  • Instead of an HD6770 try to go for the nVidia GTX550Ti OR AMD HD7750 (900MHz core-clock). You will have to scale down your graphics ambitions OR hard-drive space requirements.
  • Yes there are major advantages by going for the GIGABYTE-B75M-D3H that are; more DIMM slots for RAM expandibility, better chipset (newer B75 vs. older H61 on the MSi motherboard), native support for USB 3.0 and SATA III (something I doubt the MSi motherboard offers). Also the B75 motherboard has a better I / O panel featuring an HDMI-OUT and it does away with a legacy parallel connector for which you have no use.
Hope this answers your query and one more thing where are you buying these components from? Are you going to S.P. Road, if yes, which shop.

I remember a few good shops were --
  • Golccha IT Trade
  • Aashirwaad Computers --> talk to Mr. Dinesh
  • Mr. Gautam Nahata (he used to be with Jainex Computers but they split) contact him with this number --> 9448452918
This might come handy so added. Cheerio!

1.If you want 2TB HDD you can go for this Segate 2TB 7200RPM-6.8k but here's a problem,The 2TB HDD's have bigger failure rate than 1TB HDD so do consider this.If you can then go for 1TB X 2 HDD instead of 1 2TB.
2.2X2GB 1600mhz ram is enough for you,You can add more ram later. It's better to save some money in tight budget so 4 GB is enough.
3.For motherboard go for Gigabyte B75M D3H-4.5k it's VFM mobo within that budget with 1600mhz ram support,USB 3.0,Sata 6GBps support which has advantage over H61 chipset which would be good to avoid.
4.Under 7k budget i'd recommend you to go for HD7750-7k it's better than HD6770 and it'll complete your need of gaming.
Hope this helps:)

Thanks for the reply @ALPHA17 @Jakob
Based on the replies i have decided to change the config to : (have cut down RAM ,upgraded mobo, upgraded cabinet/PSU)
1x CPU Intel Core i3 2120 ~ 6700
1x GIGABYTE-B75M-D3H ~4500
1x Monitor Dell ST2220M 22 inch with DVI n HD LED Wide
Rs.8,352
Gskill Ripjaws 2X2GB 1600mhz 1.7k
1x HDD WD SATA 2TB 64 MB Cache
Rs.6,247
1x DVD Writer Sony OEM SATA Black 24X
Rs.904
Cabinet : still undecided - have no idea of nzxt gamma ( what plus points does it offer? i was thinking something around 2k maybe like 310 cooler elite?)
PSU - the one @Jakob listed above is around 4.3k . Can i cut down here to a decent PSU for arnd 3k?
1x Speaker 2.1 Altec Lansing VS2621
Rs.1,832 ( not decided .Need a 2.1 decent speakers ~2000 max)
1x UPS Intex IT-UPS725 Black Armour 600VA
Rs.1,226
Total till now ~ 37k without GPU
To get even 6770 i will have to exceed my budget(42k)by about 2k . Not sure how to accomodate 7750 :( . I could have cut down on my Hard disk but it seems 1 TB is around 5k, and for 1.2k more i am getting the 1tb extra , upgrading separetely later will prove costiler (unlike a RAM upgrade)and i really need min 500gig.

Right now i have decided on :
binary world indiranagar ( i got the quote from here which seems pretty reasonable comparing to other shops)
golcha sp road
aashirwad sp road
I am new to bangalore so all three are based on recommendations . I dont mind paying 4-500 extra , but i really want the dealer to be a decent guy, and not someone who will let hell lose if i come back for replacement or some thing is not working . Please tell me which one to go for based on that?

Here are your answers Shashank --
  • Instead of the Intel Core i3 2120 as you are planning to game maximum you can go for the Pentium G620; but beware that game performance will drop in online multi-player.
  • I do not recommend the SONY OEM drive, better get a boxed drive as an OEM drive does not have warranty on it as far as I know.
  • The plus points of a cabinet like the Cooler Master eLite 430 and NZXT Gamma are, they provide for a better airflow, support for tool-less assembly of the RIG, are painted internally and more importantly have a better build quality.
  • For the SMPS you can cut down to the Corsair CX v2430W ~2700/-. DO NOT GO FOR SOME LOCAL SMPS NO MATTER IF THE SHOP KEEPER SAYS IT IS ~700W. Same for Cooler Master eXtreme Pro and Plus series SMPS.
  • Instead of cheap a cheap Intex UPS, go for the APC BR600VA-IN ~1900/-.
  • Please note that the larger the hard-drive, the more chances of it failure and that much pain when a hard-drive takes a hit. So 2 x1TB hard-drives will be much more redundant although not perfect. But still less data on a every-drive. Also please do not use the Western Digital Green Edition drives as an OS drive, go for Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 OR Western Digital Blue edition drive(s) for the same.
  • Finally for the monitor go for the DeLL ST2220L over the ST2220M because for a minor increment in the cost you get an HDMI-IN port.
I was in Bangalore till February, pursuing my B.Sc. course, I personally dealt with --
  • Golccha I.T. Trade
  • Aashirwaad Computers
  • Mr Gautum (when he was with Jainex, now do not know where he is)
And found them to be equally decent, though Mr. Golccha can get very arrogant / adamant on certain issues. Most people on the forums will suggest that you stick to Aashirwaad.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Some changes-
For DVD R-W go for Samsung or HP,Don't get sony DVD RW it's the worst.
Also since you're getting HD7750 you can cut down PSU to Corsair CX430V2-2.2k,This will give you enough cash to get HD7750.
Nzxt Gamma has good spacing,Better airflow and good cable management system than your regular case so go for it.
Get APC 600VA-1.9k UPS it'll give you 10-15 min backup.
1x DVD Writer Sony OEM SATA Black 24X
Rs.904

Ok so modified the config again based on your input :) :
1x CPU Intel Core i3 2120 ~ 6500 ( g620 will be too much of an overkill :) )
1x GIGABYTE-B75M-D3H ~4500
1x Monitor Dell ST2220M 22 inch with DVI n HD LED Wide
Rs.8,200 ( Will 23'' around 400rs more be an overkill for gaming? though it would be better for movies. ALso dell> samsung right?)
Gskill Ripjaws 2X2GB 1600mhz 1.7k
1x Seagate barracuda 1 TB ~ 5k
1x DVD Writer samsung ~ 1k ( wont really use it much but still warranty counts:) )
Cabinet : nzxt gamma ~ 2.5k
PSU - Corsair CX430V2 - 2.2k
Speakers - 1.5k
APC BR600VA-IN ~1900/-

TOtal (without gpu ) = 35000
GPU = HD7750 (cost golcha = 7800rs) (6770 is 5999rs there)
total = 42800
with vat it will come down to ~ 45k
Will buy a deathadder + goliathus midsized pad when my bonus comes :p

- - - Updated - - -

Also just a quick question : an upgrade from i3 to i5 2400 will cost me arnd 3k , and an upg from 6770 to 7750 will cost me 2k)
Will a i3 2120(7k) + 7750(8k) be better overall than i5 2400(10k) + 6770(6k) (OR even 6670 5k)
? I have read that though the GPU is critical in most games yet some games require a solid CPU also ,will i3 be sufficient for the CPU needs of the games coming within 1~1.5 yrs or can it prove to be a bottleneck for a stronger 7750 (that costs even more than the CPU :p) ?

So Golccha has the NZXT Gamma in stock OR not?

Another thing, between the graphics cards, try to find the prices of the GTX550Ti.

Buy in this order (depending on availability and pricing) -- GTX550Ti > HD6770 >= HD7750 (900MHz core) > HD7750 (800MHz core)

Hope this helps and happy RIG building, Cheerio!

The Core i3 is great for gaming (for at-least the coming year), most games cannot utilize more than a dual-core properly (that is why I suggest down-scaling to the Pentium G620). No advantage of going for a Core i5 2400 + HD6670, a Core i3 + HD6770 / GTX550Ti will be a much better deal and will perform better at HD resolution.

Thanks @ALPHA17 and @Jakob
Their website seems to have the nzxt gamma in stock .
gtx 550 ti = rs.7400 . 7770 = rs 7900
i have read a lot of articles about radeon cards ,not sure how good the 550ti is ?
Also can you answer my update question regarding GPU + CPU combo?

If HD7770 is 7.9k then go for it,It's better than GTX550Ti and there are no problems with Radeon cards so don't worry.Which brand is it by the way?
Also for gaming it's better to go with i3 2120+HD7770 or 7750.So get that combo,i5 2400 will shoot the budget up by 4k.
Thanks ALPHA17 and Jakob

ok so its 550ti (costing around 7400) vs 7750 ( 7800rs) /6770 (rs.6k) along with i3 2120 .
Not hoping to start a nvidia vs ati here , but overall what is the general opinion on which is better ? have read about ati cards and thats what most people advised when my budget was ~5k but in 7-8k range ,which is the preferred card?

In that budget the HD6770 rules the roost, unless you can find the AMD HD6850 1GB.
