my college lan has decent download speeds ( 400k in day and 1000k at night) however all the p2p clients are blocked
torrents do not work..
they use cyberoam hardware and software...
need help to make torrent work at decent speeds

do u have ftp/ sftp access to the internet? u can consider getting a seedbox for ur ul/ dl needs, and xfer the files u dl there to u via ftp... do note that as the reporting software in cyberroam will show high util via ftp to a fixed ip, that would prolly get blocked very soon. you could also try using a port between 500-700 for torrents, but i doubt it would work, anyway without proper portforwarding you wont be able to seed anything you download.

p.s. have you tried dc++?

best option: make friends with the firewall admin and beer, and then join them in bliss... :D cheers!

Am experiencing the same problem here. at nitk..
some of my seniors use a software called putty that will route the connections through other "department servers". but its a closely guarded secret of them..
anyone here knows how to make it work??

i used to watch apple hd trailers ...they blocked even that

i might be able to get it work

Dude which University? PM me the name, if you belong to the same Univ as I am, then I will find a way out for you.

EDIT: Received ur PM, Sorry we are not from same Univ.

Did you try firefox with TOR? mayb that could work out for you. Be aware that TOR networks are not secure, so disconnect from them be4 checking mails or doing anything important.

tor, vidalia not working..

am checking with DC++ it connects to servers..however search string not working..hit and trail in settings being done..lets see

Thanks all for the input..more will be appreciated

I have the same problem in my college too and the same cyberoam firewall..earlier the torrents worked but no p2p now.

Solution for content .... setup DC++ hubs and use DC++ to share content.... I ran a DC++ hub from my hostel for 1 year.... 200 users and about 2 Tb shared....

2nd participate in intercollege fests and meets... take all ur HDDs with you.... make friends there...connect to their PCs and leech from their PC and DC++ hubs and bring new content back to ur college....for me a single trip would mean about 200 Gb back in 2005 and 2006....

i download at home at 200kbps during night..the main idea is to get some form of p2p working which lets me download those big blurays..at home it takes me 10-12 days to download one movie on the night unlimited connection

downloading torrent is not a problem i can always download torrent at home and carry it in pen drive...the utorrent or azureus do not connect to the tracker..i mean all the trackers i have known including private trackers..
