Need to wallmount my 46" LCD....but how ???

Ok so till now my 46" Sony Bravia TV has been sitting on a really bad stand and now since we have started a bit with the renovation of our home we need to put the TV on wall. I checked the back of TV and there are 4 holes where i see threaded nuts which i feel will be the four points on which it will rest.
Where do i find the kit which will enable me to wall mount the TV.
One desirable requirement is that if i am able to have a swivel wallmount it would be great. Also the wires that will be fixed behind should not be bent much to cause them damage so TV wont be like totally near to wall but bit in front.

PS: I have a fear that the TV might fall down :fear: What to do about this ?? :ashamed:
 
Call up Sony and ask them if they can do that. You may tell them that you recently shifted from abroad to avoid saying that you bought the piece from the grey market.

Most 46 inchers use a VESA 300 x 300 mm mount - some of them use a 400 x 400 mm mount. The showrooms have the mount with the required screws. You screw a part of the mount on the wall, another behind the screen and hang it. Simple!

And Rakshit, read the supplied manual as well. A bit of Googliung does not hurt. ;)

PS: I have a fear that the TV might fall down :fear: What to do about this ?? :ashamed:

Get rid of it. Seriously! The screws would easily bear that kind of load.
 
You can get a regular wallmount at alfa for Rs.600/-. Vanguard is also available at Alfa but would be expensive. PM me if you want something from the OMB range.
 
Ok so again bumping my old thread. Can anyone tell me where i should go looking for a wall mount for my 46" Sony Bravia TV ?

This time it is not necessary that it has swivel, even normal near to wall type of mount will do. Please suggest.
 
my friend has a brand new stand from his LG 42 incher, can check if he wants to sell it. PM if interested.

You can ask one of those smaller retail outlets (not Croma and the likes). They may spare you one for about 800~1500 bucks (you could bargain a bit). It's essentially made from one of those local engineering workshops by welding pieces of angles/metal plates together anyway so it isn't all that expensive. And they give you the right screws as well since VESA is a standard for the LCD mounts.

Went to Alfa 3 today and asked the wall mount, he showed me a simple one for 600 as you mentioned, and the vanguard one was like 8k (read super expensive).But the 600 one was like a simple one and it did not even seem to have any screws along with it. What do i do about those screws which would be perfect for my sony bravia TV.

Also i dont want to risk my TV with a sub-standard wallmount.

So please suggest what will be the best mount (not very expensive though) and from where to get it ? Ebay ?
 
Ok so my dad suggested a workaround incase we plan NOT the wall mount the TV. He is of the opinion that the viewing angle may go up a bit which may cause inconvinence, not sure though.
So he suggested something as follows.

Now in the below sketch (made using mspaint..dont know any other tool :P ), the bottom ground fixed stand was always to be made and above that the TV was supposed to be hung. But now as you see we have 4 pillars coming up from that bottom showcase/desk/whatever you want to say and holding the TV at its place.

Does this look weird / ok / so-so, criticism, comments, advice all are welcome.

Why do you want to wall mount a lcd or position it above the eye level,i would recommend putting a lcd on low height stand,so that it won't have any effect on PQ .

Yeah thats what....so i guess we will drop the idea of wall mount and instead put it on a glass stand something similar to my above drawing but may be on level with eye.

There are plenty of stands available for the LCD TVs with the provision for keeping an AVR/DVD player/consoles etc. Retails for <6k in the local shops or you can get one made.

I got one recently from Big Bazaar retailing for 999 but it is slightly taller although just perfect. :)
 
^^ Can you find any online link of same / similar stand to show me ?

Also at my home all furniture work is going to start in few days so that carpenter will only make the stand mostly with a glass top (good idea ? or a wooden top ?)
 
^A wooden base should hold the TV firmer IMO. In any case, the base of the TV stand will have rubber mounts, so even glass shouldn't be a problem. :)

Though I'd prefer no glass to close the shelves and keep it plain and simple. Avoid castor wheels because the stand could be heavy and 4 or even 6 of those wheels may not take the loads of the stand and the components combined.

This is perfect, the steel pipes can go as high as u feel necessary for perfect pic quality.

Just a few things to check

1)The glass shud be 12mm

2) the glass shud have four holes where the 4 pillars come, the steel pipes shud have a hole too, so that u can use studs to screw it in place..
