I Recently ordered for a TOSHIBA 1 GB SMALLEST USB PEN DRIVE WITH U3 TECHNOLOGY AND 2 YEARS WARRANTY from rediff.com they said that i'll get the product within 7 working days, so after a loads of mail i finally got a Pendrive nearly after 21 days i got a pendrive but i got a Transcend 1 GB one... Rediff has given me a contact number of the dealer called Devang Shah 98199614410, he sells online with the name elctronex. And if u call on this number it will always say unreachable. And the funny part is i paid 730 RS. for it even knowing that i can get a transcend 2 gig for 600 rs. easily but the toshiba one has better transfer rates thats what i as lookin for.......
And i got a freaking 1gb pen drive worth 400 rs. max

The Address of the shop as mentioned in the bill is
304/6 Pothohar Villa, 2nd Floor, L.B.S. Marg, Kurla [W], Opp. Asha Petrol Pump, Mumbai - 70

So i'll suggest everyone to stay away from rediff.com.....
With Indiatimes.com its like a year back i had ordered for a 2 GB Kingston MicroSD card transfered the cash but never got my product till date..........

Never spend "your" money for ordering from these sites. I never order from storefront sites where you pay rediff/indiatimes and the product is shipped/sold by some third party. I would rather go to a shop and pay a bit more than do this.

Sify mall, if I am correct is not like this, somebody can maybe confirm.

Andrew i guess u should mail bak to rediff aabt this cheating..or dragging them to consumer court....though nuthin much can be done but atlast rediff will remove the person from its site ..so that he cant fool other peeps around......i know rediff might have stated on site buyer/selling stuff is not under their discretion

I have mailed them back but i know either i wont get a reply or if i get a reply i'll have to send more mail and after some time they will just ignore my mails and also the fact that nothing much can be done on this as this is India,

I have posted this here so that i can warn others by not buying online anything from these sites and stating my personal experience with these sites............
Thats the least i can do....... by helping others

Eazy once said it best but the gist is, just go to a store, feel the product out and purchase it. Rediff and Indiatimes are slurs on internet shopping in India. eBay is better than them in this regard with clearer policies on refunds. But I've still had problems with them also.

The worst situation is when you do not even receive a product. Moreover, these websites are supposed to be reputable abd should have the decency to protect their name. I'm just amazed at what their management stands for.

online shopping in India is clearly risky, no doubts about that. But your case seems a bit too much. I ordered my iPod nano, my SE W950i through Sifymall, and haven't had much problems. There was a slight delay, yes, in the dispatch of W950i, but one shout to the customer care and everything was okay :P. I guess, you should talk to the dealer/customer care again. And, I'd suggest you take a trip to a neighborhood store and buy stuff like pen drives instead of ordering them online :) . Would do you much better.

The problem is with their business model. Rediff and Indiatimes shopping sites do not sell the products themselves, and thus have a limited accountability. One buys from a seller who may or may not be reliable...and this is the single biggest cause for concern. Sify and Indiaplaza on the other hand are responsible for the order since they accept orders themselves (And they must have their own links with merchants who'd ship for them) ....thus an order on Rediff and Indiatimes is a bit more risky...not so much on Sify and Indiaplaza. Though if u ask me, nothing beats a friendly neighbourhood dealer....(Unless you have gift vouchers to make use of :ohyeah: )

BTW andrews, may I suggest that u register at least a complaint here : Consumer Online Resources & Empowerment Centre (These rediff/indiatimes ppl wont' bring in more accountability unless people start troubling them in numbers for poor services.

is it worth buying a camera from indiaplaza? prices there seem to abt 5-10k less than those in street shops only for high end models.

I have had issues with rediff shopping too! I had ordered a keyboard ! When I opened the shipment,I was shocked to find some cheap chinese binoculars ! I immidiately called them up! I was asked to post a complaint on the website! I mailed them twice and despite of assurances that they will reply in two days,I dint receive any reply for more than 10 days! I lost patience and called cc again and blasted the guy over there! He said he will forward my complaint personally to the concerned department ! He also assured a reply within 2 days! Today is the 3rd day and there is no reply yet! Best of all was this conversation I had with the cc guy:

Me: Blah Blah (explained the situation)

CC: Sorry for the inconvenience.I will mark a mail and personally forward it to the concerned team.

Me: Add my id in the CC for the forwarded email.

CC: What ??? <confused>

Me: Put me in the chain so I know whats happening about it.

CC: Sorry we dont have TIME for this

[I got really pissed off at this statement]

Me: What the hell do you mean by that ?

CC: I said I dont have time for that!

Me: What ? It takes like 2 hours to do it right ??

[Changes his stand]

CC: Sorry sir,we dont have the permission to do so

Me: Screw you!

CC: Anything else apart from this.....[I banged the phone down]

Indiatimes is fine enough, recently got a 2gb pen drive, took 3 days but still.. thats the only time I have bought anything from them.. that too coz i had some balance in giftmate thing :p

Indiatimes is worst. They wont even respond properly.
I have had more than one problem with indiatimes. Stay away from it.
worst part is they dont have a separate email id for complaints, you can only send complaints through the feed back form. You can not even reply to their mails, they ask us to reply through feed back form again.

Yes i do confirm that on indiatimes i have ordered for Prentiss Face Cleaner. The first time the product was faulty and dead. It didn't worked at all. Then i called upon the customer care for replacement of the product. they took back the product but again sent me the replaced product in 15 days and now again its not working. Its a dead piece. Indiatimes shopping is just f***** up...i will never go for online shopping on indiatimes again in future...its a real shitty crap..

Exactly the reason i stopped shopping online. And i have never gotten techie stuff anyway (only the el cheapo fancy/tools from ebay). I feel more secure paying a couple of hundred bucks extra, and to know that the product comes home with me :P

my shopping experience from indian sites is that most of them try to force broken or damaged goods on peeps who buy from them.

bought some audio cds from ebay (around 6)- 4 cd covers were broken, thankfully cds were okay.

shopped from indiatimes some alfred hitchcock movies (1 box containing 4 movies) - 1 movie had a cut from one end of cd to another, and the cd case came apart in my hands as soon as i opened it

moral of the story (for me atleast) - stay away from indian shopping sites!! :)
