Looking to get my gurl a 2 wheeler , her budget is 30k , it has to be automatic and have a decent fuel efficiency , gonna be used for short trips , no other requirements, suggestions would be good in this range.
i thought of a 2nd hand activa , but she wants something brand new

You wont get anything new in 30k range.

All automatic scooters range starts from 40k onwards.

She can get a HH Pleasure for 41k.

Cheapest she can get.

automatics and fuel efficiency don't go hand in hand, however in case of activa it just does, with a decent mileage of ~40 kms to 1 liter is the best it does...don't wanna sound rude asking this, does she have road experience ? activa does have a powerful automatic engine. i have seen the likes where they cant handle a 'scooty pep' and keep falling of it at speeds of 20-30 kms. a good well maintained second hand activa is what u should be looking out for.

nah she wont drive at higher speeds and has no driving experience , this would only be used for short distances to commute n save time wherein the ricks dont really go n she spends a bomb on ricks , i was thinking of an electric scooter , how are they and prices ?

she wouldn't be driving it at any more than 30-40 speeds.

-1 to the electric scooter. if its not going to be used too much and based on the things u mentioned, then the activa will sure be an overkill. get the scooty pep. its sleek, light and decently powered for the use you mentioned and additionally it will be easier to navigate (learn) , get used to, whatever you would like to call that. Activa is quite heavy too.

its gonna be used everyday for general commute , why not electric scooter , considering it will be cheaper and no license or helmet reqd when u use a electric scooter

TVS Scooty pep+ is the answer.
light, very low maintenance, good FE

My grandpa (77) ride one for getting around the city, u know grocery, bank and stuff.
Sis (25) uses his Scooty more than her own Activa.
She likes the lightness and traffic maneuverability.

Yeah.. the likes of Scooty pep or Hero Honda Pleasure would suit your requirements, though you won't get them in your budget.

Please do not rule out a helmet just because it is not required by the law or because it is gonna be a short distance ride. In fact, your budget should include a helmet compulsorily.

last night at 11.30 a guy "flew" over a rickshaw cause of no mistake of his. after the flying episode he lay 'unmovable' and was rushed to the nearest hospital. he wasnt wearing a helmet and he slammed head first i guess. guess what it WASNT his mistake that he had to fly, it WAS his mistake riding a bike - paying 50+ rs. for a liter of petrol but NO Helmet. Sorry , but had to rant at that. My logic is simple, when buying PC people rant abt ppl not buying a good PSU.....when buying bikes / scooters people want to ignore the Helmet cause its a "nuisance" carrying it around, "bahoot bhari hai yaar" , "bahoot garmi hoti hai" , "pagal hai kya, 2000 ka helmet" , "mereko jamta nahi" and the most lame ive heard "thobda dikta nahi hai".....i mean yea , like anyone would if the person happens to smash it....

back to the topic....electronic scooters if get busted a regular mechanic i doubt would be able to fix it, charging points issue, once the battery cycle goes down, constant recharges.....i remember a couple of people buying those electronic bikes in my society, recently i have been seeing them on automatic petrol driven scooters......what comes into picture is reliability.....ive dont own one, nor have i driven one, so i would leave that to the people with experience with the same....i sure have read earlier on TE abt someone having one of it.

hmm thats what i wanna know reliability of the electric scooter , battery charge cycles n its price ?

for the record ill be buying a good helmet for her , that was jus a statement for electric bikes , safety comes first for me is why im also looking at a electric bike doesent go too fast ,and she herself doesent wanna go too fast , just the geenral commute.

I see majorly all brands have electric bikes , havent really seen much feedback on them if anybody can comment ?

Also charging wont be a problem, as she can either charge it overnight or else charge it at the hospital - Shes a doctor

P.S. since most people have been recommending an Activa , I'm also looking at an option of buying an immaculate condition Activa if i can find one , a friend said he could arrange for one , for about 9-10k.
