To say that caller tunes is a rip off is debatable. In other countries (Europeans I think) there is no concept of caller tunes. There the call rates are costlier, incoming messages are charged etc etc. Indian market it slowly moving towards VAS as thats becoming the main stream for revenue. No tunes, no rip off.

Though coming to the advertising bit. I think it plays that message only on few days. Regardless, its stupid to play that message. Defeats the purpose of dialer tones if the dialer cant even hear them. The recipient will accept the call by then.

btw, you dont have to use the IVRS for hello tunes. you can get the code directly from the airtel site for the song and call that number directly

^ good point made there. But lets see how the Vas part plays out. Most people opt for VAS due to pure boredom or lack of knowledge and then end up loosing money :| (at-least, that's the trend i have noticed here in bangalore.) :S

it is a wastage of money to some people like me, but not everyone. many would like to customise their ring tones and they dont see it as a waste.

its just like how many of us spend a lot on expensive computer cases, whereas others think its a waste to buy them.

i was offered 3 months free caller tunes since i have never in my 5-6 yrs of being a customer opted for that. it was a good offer but the choice of songs i had from vodafone was pathetic - bhakti songs, hindi songs, and old english songs. there was no option of using an audio clip of my own. so i turned that offer down.

here is the proof of me deactivating hte Hello tune ..

^^ I am more surprised that you actually subscribed to that service in the first place. I understand people customizing their ring tones because its them that's going to hear it, but is it that important that you force others to listen to a tune you like in poor telephone quality audio?

Please guy's do not use such services, not for your sake, but for the sake of others. I for one would much rather hear the boring but sharp tring tring than some half muffled tune in low quality.

I absolutely love hello tunes. I love music, and my friends dont like my kind of music.

I use it as revenge on them :devil2:

as i said in another forum , i am having it for 4 years or so and had that activated when it was popular.

anyway its no more now.

Hello Tunes are a waste of money. No use in it except that your operators can get more money from you.
