PC Peripherals New !!! BENQ DW1650

I've ordered a BenQ 1650 from my dealer but he is yet to quote a price.

Can anybody tell me around how much should I pay for this writer ?

Wow I wish if it were true, as I have many SATA conectors lying empty on my mobo.. Infact I have been holding off my writer purchase just due to that I want a SATA writer...
 
ya but the plextor isnt available here afaik... not the sata one atleast...

when are other sata drives coming out guys? any ideas. me too like aces wanna buy a sata optical drive...
 
Well SATA drives won't burn faster...

In the sense, it won't improve performance, maybe just transfer rates to the writer but will it affect the time in burning ???

Bah! NO! The only advantage of SATA for optical drives is hot plugging capability, along with thinner cables for better airflow. That's it! Burn times will remain the same.

Thanks for the clarification TH :), I also thought the same thing...

BTW, the 1650 isn't yet available with the BenQ distributors they have said to wait till the 15th...

Just to update you guys, the Benq 1650 is now available in mumbai. I picked up mine on tuesday. Can't give you guys a review, and strangely not body across the world seems to have reviewed it. Everybody is talking about the 1655 which is the light scribe drive.

Price is the same as the 1640 and only available in black.

Will attach it this weekend to give you guys an update
 
The BenQ 1640 no more available in mumbai. Asked around 6 shops... no stock ony 1650 available. Got mine for 2.8k n ya only black....
 
i've been informed by the calcutta benq office tht benq 1640 has some reading problems so they have planned to withdraw it form the market and introduce a new dirve or use the existing 1620 is this a bs crap?

BS/Crap both. The 1640 has reached EOL, and it's being replaced by the 1650/1655. That's it.
