New better and cheaper Unlimited Broadband plans from TATA Indicom...

Flash 384 has FUP of 70GB as given in the site- Terms&Conditions and how come no torrenting on Tata? My friend who has a 2Mbps connection downloads 7-8Gb very night(9-9 plan) through torrents only....

Not True :no:

Torrenting is lil affected due to various firewalls which are beyond your control but torrenting is decent enuff. Nothing much to complaint about.
 
i need some doubts cleared if u'll guys could help out :)
I currently have hathway 256 ult connection (850bucks including taxes and rentals :@)
my only other feasible alternative is tata, so was plnning to go for the flash 384 plan need to know:
- what are the problems with dynamic ip??
- what wud tata do if the FUP limit is crossed ??(halve the connection speed or something even more dastardly???)

in all the airtel connections, you get dynemic IP only, No torrenting is when you are on the shared IP (e.g. bsnl EVDO, other brand EVDO).
 
Airtel support is good and intuitive... the TATA ppl are just dumbfu(ks who dont have an escalation person also... I have asked them time and again "whom can
I escalate this to" their reply is "No one" I was like WTF !!!!

Also they do not reimburse you any downtime unless you inform them and the net is down for 72 hrs after you logged a complaint. I mean what were they thinking ???
 
Are the TATA guys applying FUP on older accounts as well ? I have the Super Quick Power plan which I don't think is available any more.
 
FUP is not applicable on time based plans such as the Quick Power plans, so don't worry yet :)

Just got the connection installed today.

Actually I booked the connection on Friday and the Guys were at my home for cabling and installation on Saturday noon. Unfortunately I was not available and my cell was out of coverage.

I went with the Flash 384 plan for now and paid 4months advance rental.

What are you saying ?

no more fup ? cause i live in cochin and i am waaaaaay over 45gb!

i downloaded more than 60-70gb by now! cause i only kept track till the 45gb mark then i never cared!


and yes im 256 flash and also

huh. Just had a chat with TATA guy. Sales Rep. came to home to give me 256 power Flash wala plan. I asked him few Qs about FUP,Login method and IP. He has no idea about so he called his Tech. Engg. he told me that If connection is Wi-Max and you are opting for Dynamic IP wala plan then you have login based authentication (tata page).

I asked him about FUP. He said on 256Kbps. FUP is 45 GB per month. I asked him what if i cross that limit. He said we will simply suspend your account. then i argued him that why are you advertising it as a UL then with **** in all of your plans ?
Saar. Agar sab log download karenge to network Jam ho jayega naa. thats why we are applying FUP. :@ bullS**t. I told him BSNL doesn't have any FUP in any plan even not in Unlimited Plans.

I think i better stick to my BSNL Home-500 and EV-DO.

I have used tata from last 3 years , for my luck haven't got any problems .

But , when they started FUP & 2 calls/month for FUP thing with " sir , your limit got finished , plz upgrade your plan ". I replied if upgrade will it be FUP free - reply = no sir . This followed for 4 months.

I was so pissed off , just terminated connection , applied for BSNL UL .

now , Tata guys rings up my cell " Sir , you are our loyal customer , plz renew your connection , for you our regional head ( Gujarat ) has assured that we will just threat but never suspend connection " :tongue:
whts amazing thing is they introduced "night booster " on post paid connections which even comes under FUP .
wtf they are going to do with these so much bandwidth tapping :S
 
Question is will any of these guys give "FUP Waived" in writing? If not then its very risky to take such packages over a sales guy's assurance.

For instance, most would go for a 4month pack at least to save installation/security deposit, but the catch is that you are stuck with it for that period and if they suspend your account you are screwed.

Also, for some, logging in manually every 24-hours can be a pain. I have an NMT (Popcorn Hour clone) that does all my torrent downloading as well. Sometimes the connection dies and unless you login again all downloads stop. Thats why I am switching from Reliance Wi-Max to MTNL back again as even though Reliance is pretty good, the login-every-24 hours is a pain.

For those who have a download rig of some kind and tend to download a lot I would highly recommend MTNL. In conjunction is a good ADSL router (that has (DYNDNS capability), MTNL can be a very good. You can monitor your downloads and everything from anywhere using a browser.
 
just withdrew my application for the 750 plan .. got a refund .. the salesman kept promising that the FUP has been canceled .. but wasn't willing to give it in writing

All these were only promises from TATA and they have not delivered even half of what they promised.
My NET connection is not working from Sunday :( and nothing has been done inspite 7 complaints and many mails to nodal and appellete authorities.
I am thinking of diconnecting the service and getting a refund.

I am going to take this very seriously and launch a online campaign against TATA.
Its the most hopeless service I have ever used.
I advice you not to try it out and the new plans though good are good only on paper.
The speed is so disgusting that at 384kbps a low res. you tube vdo would also not run properly....

I feel cheated and despite mailing the senior authorities and calling them for n times a day they only say that they will look into it and push the blame to others.
I am gonna scr3w them and I need your help now.....
 
The fact that they'll suspend our connection when the FUP limit is exceeded is the most absurd and ridiculous thing I've ever heard! What the f**k is the point of naming it "unlimited" then?!!

I'm sorry.. to the guy who posted above me -- well that's the way most customer services behave.. when anything goes wrong, they wont be of any service at all..

you are not alone my friend. I was out of town for a n entire week last month and after i came back the net stopped working. it started working last sunday and o n monday this week i get a call from the TIB service folk saying that in Sept i had downloaded some 70GB and 144 mb of data whereas as per FUP my limit is 70 GB only - and that if i kept up this usage pattern they will suspend my account. I have a 384 kbps connection and reside in a housing society that has no other option other than TIB.

I work from home no more than a weeks downtime is criminal - can i sue TIB for that. The condition these operators subject us users to is unacceptable.

These are for Maharashtra.
They have not billed me for the days on which my connection was down after I followed up with them.
After that I got a call almost everyday for a week from the local engineer confirming that my connection was working fine :cool2:
I think he got a good firing from his boss as the nodal and appellate were in the complain loop.
Also I sent them the link of this thread and warned them that If I face issues again and they are not addressed responsibly I will launch an online campaign against them mentioning the names and numbers of dumb officers who create problems for customers. I also mentioned that I will post the entire mail thread on the net.

Now things seem fine but I am opting out once my 4months period is over.
 
Just as a warning to all Mumbai Wadala (West) Tata connections. Don't go for TATA in Wadala (West) area as I'm having it. The tata connection is good but the operator thru which it comes is bad. His name is Vishu and he's an idiot. He's liad only cat 5 over long distances and his infrastructure isn't good at all.

Thankfully Now i've gone for another guy providing internet through Five net for 768kb Umlimited just for Rs.1200. He's very knowledgeable too. This guy has laid fibre-optic cables for me, I saw them installing and also has the overly expensive fibre-optic crimping machine. These guys are good.

No matter how many times I tried to complain, even explaining that there operator is bad, they just don't understand.

Anyone needs help around here in Wadala West, just Pm me straight.
