Who doesnt? Ok answer one question which bike would be more enjoyble and manageble out of P220f , avenger and zmr in these two scenarios
1.A city road full of traffic
2.An empty city highway

After browsing and talking to some of my friends i have decide to get one of the two either P220f or Karizma ZMR for the following reasons:
P220 - Value for money ,good performance , average looks ,average mileage (40kmpl)
Karizma ZMR - Good looks , good performance , stable riding , good mileage (47kmpl)

no point test driving i kno p220 would beat zmr on performance anyday the only positive of zmr above p220 are that its better looking and has better mileage and maybe greater life
what i need is someone to convince me on one of the two

u need to take test drive. thts how u will get to knw about the engine refinement, aerodynamics, wht suits u best while handling the bike and many other things ..
Dnt waste ur 1 lac just by the word of sm other guy !!

Between the 2, I would say get the P220 since you are going to use the bike for 2 yrs.
The reason being that the projector on the P220F produces the best illumination available on Indian bikes. That will help you a lot while riding at night.
Other than that Bajaj spares would be cheaper than Hero's.

The only thing that you will have to keep in mind with the P220 is that you need to get her serviced according to the schedule.

Yea P220 seems a better option to me too cause of the price difference of 20k the only thing confusing me is that i m constantly hearing bad things about the quality of bajaj bikes
when is the 200ns supposed to come to the market wasnt it supposed to be here 2 months back in march?
Also what mileage does an avenger give and whats its top speed??

The only thing bad about bajaj bikes is that you need to get them serviced at the mentioned regular intervals.
In other words, you need to take care of the bike.
If you are able to do so, then its not bad.
Also wear and tear to some parts is more than other bikes (like clutch plates dont last that long, you may need to change them after 20k-25k kms).

Just to add my few cents, why don't you consider Apache 180 ABS.
Fits many of your requirements i guess.
Looks,performance,budget,comparatively better mileage.
You won't have to maintain it like a baby and service it now and then like the bajaj's.
Its an option worth considering for an upgrade from 150 to 180.
And yeah it won't have longer waiting time

I was wondering why no one had brought that up till now
The problem with RTR180 abs is that just like R15 its small in size and lighter which makes me feel unsafe
I have decided to go either for P220 or Zmr
If we leave the price out ZMR seems more reliable and useful and i guess that extra 20k is for that reliability and quality

From a biker to a biker

P220 vs Zmr
I've ridden both, extensively.

Thumb rule is to buy the most powerful bike that you can afford.
But If you are into cornering a and zipping through the traffic, you need better chassis
eg P220 vs R15 21PS vs 17PS
R15 handles way better than pulsar

I own karizma and R15, and just sold the pulsar.

Bajaj P220
Pros :
Raw power
Goodies ( digital speedo, projector for low beam, fatter tyres, etc)
17" wheels give lot of options for upgrading the tyres to better rubber
Decent FE
cheaper to buy
cheap spares
spares' availability

Cons : (as compared to ZMR)
unrefined Engine
Clutch plates won't last much (but cheap to replace)
Disk brakes not as crisp as ZMR
Heavier on wrists in bumper to bumper traffic
too common

ZMR
Pros
Very refined Engine which will last really long
Low engine maintenance
Engine can take some abuse and is tolerant towards missing scheduled services
FI
crisp throttle response
Excellent FE
Better brakes
Better Speedo (shows time too, i missed it badly in pulsar)
Big feel (though fake)
Comfortable for looooong rides, even for pillion
Looks, if you like faired bikes esp Hayabusa
covered chain, lasts long and low maintenance
Comfy riding position
Relaxed engine
FI system is world class, no worries at all

Cons:
low on power at 1Lac+ price 17bhp vs P220 20bhp
PATHETIC plastic quality
Expensive spares
spares' availability
not so grippy quality tyes
Narrow rear tyre really spoils the look
18" wheels have very few options in Tubeless tyres
Feels too big to ride in traffic , and it actually is

Take long test rides, if possible borrow a friend's bike. TD bikes in showrooms are not always kept in top condition.

Ideally, you should wait for P200NS. It combines the power and handling of Duke200 to the affordability of P220.

P.S. about RE, you buy it because you want a RE. specs, engine, handling.... what's that? I needed RE, I got one.
Simple!

I really dont quite agree with on this point.
The R15, being lighter doesnt make it unsafe. In reality the bike has one of the best handling capabilities in that price range and maybe even a bit above.
I own the v2 and it handles like a charm in both city traffic and on the highways. The bike cuts beautifully in the cross winds.
If any of your friends own a v2, just take it out for a spin.

I went to various showrooms today the RE thunderbird was available within 2 weeks but it was 1.25lac which was way over my budget then went to the hero showroom to see the ZMR didnt like that too then finally went to bajaj and saw the avenger and the P220f
The P220 and avenger looked better than the online pics but the avenger didnt look good with me so finally decided to go for the P220 which is for 90k here
Ill post my final thoughts when i get the bike

Go for Karizma R. Best performing bike in my opinion. Using it and having no problems. By the way i read that ZMR mileage is somewhere above 45 in the above posts. No doubt it won't. Karizma R will give 40 if you maintain it properly.

I would suggest as an R15 owner to increase your budget a bit and go for the bike.

I have one myself and the spares are a bit costly (about 10% more) but the bike is superb. The power, the delivery, the zippyness of the bike, comfort and everything top notch.

I have had my bike for over 2 years and now and wasnt able to get the bike serviced since the past 1 year due to odd job timings and too much rush. The bike was still going strong. Just that there was some chain clanking. Thats it. Once I got it serviced, it became as good as new. Racing like a little bunny right now.

Anyways, P220 has got a really hard gear box (Confirmed myself and with a friend who recently rode my bike).

Karizma R is with a forum member mikey and he confirms the same regarding the gear box. Its hard.

Fazer is a good way point for people craving for R15 but find it too costly and dont want an FZ.

Anyways, I am 6ft myself and weigh close to 80 KG and trust me, If you have got long hands, this bike will make you fall in love every single day, everday.

please please dont get a pulsar.. not another pulsar..get a karizma.. its much much better. .if you like bulky fairings, go for the Karizma zmr. both the karizma's are quite good.. karizma R is carburetted while the zmr is fuel injection. nevertheless, both have advantages and disadvantages.. read up about the zmr.. if the fuel injection system hasnt received any negative reviews of failing or malfunctioning, go for the zmr.
