CPU/Mobo New Build

Hi guys, will be building a new p.c in two weeks time.. i have few doubts regarding the processor/mb/ram combo
The pc would be used for gaming,programming and overnight downloading as well,

Is it better to go for an am3 socket with ddr3 1333 cl9 ram or a am2+
socket with dd2 1066mhz cl5 ram ?

i have a budget of 20k for cpu+mb+ram

PII 720 B.E + ta790gx a3 + corsair xms ddr3 1333mhz cl9 ram

or

PII 940 be + ta790gxb a2+ + 4gb corsair xms ddr2 1066mhz cl5 ram
Is there any other config u suggest am open to intel configs as well within the same budget..

Personally, i'd say you're better off going with AM3 and DDR3.
See if you can find this board:- Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P or get it via KMD (or ask a TE dealer to arrange a GO)
I think that's your best bet according to your budget.

AM3 is the safest bet for a low budget if you want to buy right now. Socket 775 from intel is going to go soon and core i5 will come in November.
