How bout SLB ?? Aint got enough cooling or just because its Mini Cab ?? Looks good though... and its breadth is also bigger so good for air circulation ???

Jesus.... Thats hot :S ?? My Maxtor DM 9 is running @ 69 degrees sometimes.. Has touched 71... In a bloomin SLB no less...
for around 2K u should be able to get a zebby, look for the geforce 2, its a decent nuff buy.

p.s. If you can afford the SLK3000B, you will not regret it!!
Should be 3.1k or lesser, if you bargain well!!
Its similar in design to SLK3700AMB and had better space and ventilation than my SLB, especially mobo and HDDs:P !!
HDD cage is normally oriented, front 120 fan air passes unobstructed over HDDs and the sides of the cage deflect air towards side panel, forcing some air under mobo too:clap: , resulting in mobo cooling like crossflow fans:cool2: !!

Got a SLK3000B for pal using Intel, 6-7degC instant drop in CPU temps under load, that too w/o front fan!!:hap2:
My friend just shifted his old Athlon 2800MP into now his SLK3700AMB, again 6-7degC drop in CPU temps, again w/o front fan!!:hap2:
They are happy so i am happy for recommending the right product!!:P
Damn, that reminds me, have to arrange 120mm fans for their front!! lol...

!

Hey Josh,

The SLB is good and The BLING is incomparable!!:ohyeah:

Now that i have it finally, thanks to my very dear friend/mentor/guide:cool2: , my mom has asked me several times as to why i didn't get it in the first place!!

It was suposed to be my 1st cabby, the moment i first saw it at PRIME, but was worried about space and ventilation as it was MINI tower!!:P
(well my 1st cabby would have been the silver wavemaster, but its totally O/T!!)
Bought the SLK3700AMB- full rokda vasool!!:ohyeah:
But succumbed to SLB's Bling, esp after pals like Saiyan, Switch, Funky, Appo showed it is not the monster as was thought of earlier!!

The front intake fan in the SLB is severely blocked by the HDD cage and the stock, slow 120mm antec fans don't help either!!
I am running a 78CFM Thunderblade at the front and a Tt Silent wheel at the rear!!
and still my mobo and GPU temps esp, are higher than the 3700AMB!!:@

But thats not an issue coz a few more strategically placed fans inside it will take care of that!!
So some more timepass for an otherwise absolutely free guy is just what the Doc ordered!!
(chk pics of SLB in Rig gallery!!)

I have used the SLK3700AMB(same like SLK3000B) for 5 months and i still say that it has better ventilation, not to mention space!!
TtBT or SI120 would just squeeze into the SLB(i pray it does), if you use ASUS mobos!!
If it doesn't, nice excuse for me to get a DFi UltraD!!

^^ Ok so factory made cool cabbie---go for SLK3700MB

or your own made cool cabbie --- go for SLB

SLB sure is sweet..

Also Plus View II is big enough to run cool ??? What your update on that Bikeinstein ??

Call me Bikey!!

Warning- me super noob!!:cool2:
Just learning from TE :hap2: and from bugging my Gurus for hours on end at times!!:ashamed:

And i don't say SLB is not good!!
Its just that my place is hotter(as in ambient temps) and i had better experience with the 3700AMB, asp considering the fact that my PC is out of the ceiling fan's reach!!
In a well ventilated room, the diff maybe negligible and in an AC eviron, nil or the SLB aluminium may help!!

I doubt if 3700 still available!!
3000B is available, has those intel recommended sidepanel vents and is similar to 3700 in every other aspect except colour!
When i got SLK3000B for my pal, no 3700AMB available with Antecindia!!
Though i could have sold mine to him then but wanted him to get SLK3000 as he is on Intel, and that Intel TAC chimney was designed for Intel!!

Some members here know that i try not to sell stuff to those who i think can benefit from something better and/or cheaper!!:cool2:

And though mine was purchased in end 2005, date embossed on door and stamp inside cabby mentioned it being end2004 manufactured!!:P
And i stil maintain it had better build quality than the 3000B!!:cool2:

PlusviewII- If you have the space to keep that and money, its still a good cabby!!
I like the sidepanel, esp the gfx intake slits that disperse the light from an 80mm led fan and the sidepanel single latch arrangement!!
A carry over from the amazing AMG1000!!
I prefer that single but sturdy latch to the dual latches of the TX1088/1050!!
Getting 2xPlusviewIIs for my pal's 2x 3D rigs!!
Though he wanted to get Stacker 830 or Stacker 710!!
But then space and Bling in Antec come at a premium!!

A VIP ZB01 (or slightly pricier Zebronics Pyramid/Jamaica/london aka Darky's Temjin5:rofl:) ,
is the best bangs for the buck at 3.5k odd w/o PSU, if you can do with the OK looks!!
When it comes to Space within these cabbies- i guess i can sleep inside too!!
Also, i was amazed to see Quads full ATX mobo look like a micro in his ZB01!!

Only grouse, its on the heavier side like me and wouldn't be preferable to keep it atop the desk unless u got a nice, big desk!!
Also, if kept down and u need to keep fiddling with it, picking it up often is not that pleasant!!
Jokes apart, its a modders delight with good built!!

And unlike my initial foolish ways, i now firmly believe that its not necessary to spend on expensive stuff and there is nothing like the best cabby out there!!
Experience is a tough teacher, especially when it involves money!!:P
And my Gurus here at TE are Tougher!!

Even a Sonata(a mini tower) can easily house a DC CPU and an X1900XT and work flawlessly for ages!!

Moral of the story- Pick ones that suit ur pocket and need, touch, feel, peep inside and if still undecided, ask on TE!!:cool2:
OMG- the above line sounds damn corny if read out of context!!

Like i mentioned somewhere, I am in love now with that cabby XT got!!
VIP 856B!!
XT's description:ohyeah: abt the various cooling fan options, esp the square ended chimney for AMD CPUs on ASUS mobos, is making me think abt getting one for that old PIII in my friend's attic, that i can use for surfing/dwnld!!:P
The best part- its for 800/- or less!!

well bikey, re: XT's VIP 865 cabinet.
when we had bought it, it was like 8 PM (Shops were shutting down...), and it was not our first choice. our first choice was a VIP cabinet that i am using for the last 2 ~3 years ....(actually have 2 of them , 1 ivory colour and the other one black), but since it was not avialable we had to settle for this one.

RE: that chimney on the side panel ....it has a rectangular form which just fits the AMD cpu h/s perfectly. To increase the air flow to the cpu i had attached 1 80 mm fan on the side panel, (between the plastic chimney [intake] and the side panel). this resulted in XT getting cpu temps of around 28 ~ 32C ..idle (actually 20 minutes from starting, with surfing etc...) and around 38C ~ 40C on load, prime95 for 1/2 an hour.
In this summer heat / humidity of mumbai thats pretty decent. and we are constantly joking that XT may have "COLD" boot problems during Winter season. i had suggested to him a cheap heater coil for the cpu if the need arises in winter ..;)
neverthless i have asked him to make a DIY cloth Dust filter for that side pannel 80 mm intake fan ...
This cabinet is constructed out of very thin steel sheets , hence is very fragile, and prone to vibrations and noise unless steps are taken to remedy that. Inside the edges are very sharp and not rounded. (seems to be the case with most of the cheap cabinets in the market, i got many "medals" on my fingers to remind me of these ....haha)

Good case to use provided you do not open it regularly for system tweaking ....its more of a "close it and forget it" of a kind.

ps: if you want to use an aftermarket cpu cooler then that chimney is useless ..infact you might need to remove it for any descent cpu cooler to fit ....

NB: I have a hunch that his m/b is under reporting the temps ...but this is a case of neighbour's envy , owner's pride (Pun intented)...hehe

Thank you very much for the clarification on that Sir DJ!!:hap2:

And i didn't expect the quality to be too great, the iball grabit that i had first got was horribly cramped, esp HDD bay:@ and the sheet metal was what you call 'PATRA'!!:P

I have a VIP G300
It's a "OK" cabby, if u only tend 2 b a bit different!
I am also looking forward to changing my cabinet and PSU. VIP G300 looked good. How much does this one cost? Is it a good cabinet? Is a PSU included or should i go for a Powersafe 450 or 500W. Also, would like to know whether its available some where in chandigarh?

The G300 comes bundled with a VIP 400w PSU... based on your config, I would recommend getting a Powersafe that fits your budget.

couple of things about the SLK3000B case...

1. got only one exhaust fan. 120mm
although very roomy and having done some form of cable management, temps are not pleasing. when HDDs are connected in cage given with the case and having my own 120mm fan as intake right in front, temps hardly dropped by a couple of degrees max. hence my heatsink mod. (see guides section) which has helped in reducing the temps some more.
CPU, case GPU are still high by any standards.
2. build is excellent (read heavy) and materials used is of good quality.

@lord_nemesis

Kunhar quoted a price of 2.1 k for the G300 cabinet without the PSU.

G100 without the PSU will cost around 2 k.

Add about 500 for shipping, tax n all. Its the only option coz they don't have any dealers in this region. :(

Antec products are available in Chandigarh though.

SLK3000B will cost 3k from Savex Computers, Sec 33.

Having read the reviews at SPCR, I might just go for it.
