Hi guys, posting after long time. Looking to buy a new car by loan in next 4 months..have short listed Hyundai eon Magna + since its with central lock,p windows and in built player . Any other recommendations ? Also need help with car loan
I have a account with bob but don't have much transactions and I am out of country since 2 years.

There is the Datsun Go also. I dont think it comes with much safety features wise, but you can keep it in mind while selecting. I would suggest you take a test drive of all the cars that you shortlist and then make any decision. The top most model of Go is around 3.70 lakhs, will have to check if it has a music player.

Why not buy a used one, you might end up with a golden deal-- a better car and tons of after market features.?? And are you hooked on only to hatchbacks?

I personally feel that if I am someone with not much knowledge of automobiles then will stay away from used because I would never know what problems are there underneath.
Obviously this is not applicable to people who know cars in and out. I don't so I would avoid temptation to buy used. I know one can get better car at less price.

Agreed, but in that case one can take a trusted friend or his trusted garage-walla or similar technical expert and test the car on road and as well under the hood. And last but the best part is to take the car to its authorized center and have a through checkup done though it may cost you a bit but will surely save lacs!!

Did that with two of my friends who were hunting for a good 2nd hand sedan deal. Today they are happy with their investment. :)

What are the factors that a first time car buyer should consider while deciding between a used car or an entry level hatchback. The car will mostly be used on weekends and occasionally on weekdays. How does the Eon fare against Alto 800?

Central locking, Power windows and OE sound system should never be the key criteria for choosing your car, they are just "nice to have" features. For 4 lacs there ain't much choice really and you have covered the Eon and Alto 800. With both these cars there are huge compromises in cabin space and performance which you must experience yourself before buying (take Test Drives). Build quality of the Maruti will be shoddy. I would advice you to plonk another 50k so that you can bring the i10(non-grand)/Ritz/Micra Active into consideration. Power windows, audio system and central locking can be added later when the purse permits.

Compared to Alto, Eon looks better . Also Hyundai also has mass presence like maruti so ASS won't be a problem for Hyundai.

If it is your first car, be careful, don't fall in the trap of matching the neighbors etc. Buy if you really need one, not just want one. Cars drop dramatically in value the moment you drive out of the showroom. You would be taking a loan for a very fast depreciating asset.

Buying used is safe as long it is from the companies themselves, like Maruthi True Value, which also gives warranty etc.Suggest you visit a TrueValue showroom and see for yourself.

Nano is excellent also VFM; no car under 5 lakhs can match the space it offers.
