I need to configure a gaming rig for myself budget is 35,000 for just the cpu..
I already have a good cabinet.
so i just need processor mobo gpu psu and memory..
can i go for palit 4870 and corsair vx 450 and skimp a little on an avearge mobo and c2d e7200..
please suggest..

Processor - C2D E7300/7200 ~5.8K

Motherboard - Retail Gigabyte GA-EP31-DS3L/GA-P31-S3G ~3.7K (or) Second Hand P35 chipset for 3~3.5K

Ram - Corsair XMS2 2x2GB ~2.8K

PSU - Corsair VX550/TX650 (TX650 Recommended) 6~6.8K

GPU - MSI GTX 260 192SP available through KMD for 12.5K or BFG CTX 260 216SP OC again through KMD for 14.6K

How in the world you will run os without hard disk .... :-) .... get a seagate 500 GB ~ 2750 and compromise on Ram, you dont need 4 GB. and VX450 is more than sufficient at ~3250

Also for graphics go for palit 4850 to save money.

^^imho 4GB of RAM, a 600W(650W for some headroom) psu is the minimum now. Most of us forget to calculate overheads that may hinder future upgrades.

The VX450 should be more than enough. Esp. when he's tight on the budget, there's no point in shelling another 2k on the PSU.

I heard someone got a Palit Dual Sonic 4870 1GB for like ~17k locally. Forgot the thread/post. That if true, sounds to be a good deal.

Get a P31/G31 motherboard. The Gigabyte G31 S2L for ~2.5k is a steal deal. The board's a real VFM overclocker. Check this thread out: http://www.techenclave.com/overclocking-n-modding/overclocking-e7300-on-g31-s2l-125133.html

Get the XMS2 sticks. 4 GB as mentioned's a bare minimum these days.

Get a 500GB hard drive from Seagate/WD. All done I guess. :)

May shoot a bit above the budget. Didn't do the calculations. :P

Palit RMA is quite non-existent from what I've been reading. ITs better getting the GTX 260 from KMD if anything happens you'll be paying about 500 bucks for RMA but rest assured you will be getting a replace product in about 2-3 weeks. Maybe get a spare 8400GS as a back up card of the extra money better would be if you can find a 55nm at a good price.

And anyways new games are launching 1680 according to me needs a 4870/GTX 260.

i guess no overclocking of 4870/4870x2 on vs450 better go for 650 or 620 and get some headroom :)

gunman your config is good but 450 really needs to get replaced if he gets 4870x2 or even 4870 :)
