Hello, I need a gaming PC. Budget is 50K (excluding UPS)

Now I was thinking along these lines
1. Processor - Some Quad core Intel 32bit
2. RAM 4GB
3. 512MB Graphics card
4. Some Asus Motherboard
5. 750GB HDD (7500rpm)
6. Inbuilt Sound will do
7. 4000rs approx sound system, will also buy 1500 rs odd headphones
8. 21" monitor LCD

The problem is that I have been using a laptop for many years, and have absolutely no idea about what to buy in New Delhi.
Please help with what to buy and approx prices

I want to stick to Asus for Motherboard due to reliability, good choice?
The system will run either windows 7 or Vista and will be primarily a Gaming PC, + will be used to watch HD videos. So 22" monitor will also be good if within budget.

AMD X3 - 720 BE @ 6.5k
Gigabyte AMD 780G MA78GM-US2H @ 4.5k / Biostar 790GXBE @4.4k
Corsair 2*2GB DDRII 800MHz RAM @ 4.2k
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB @ 4k
Corsair VX 450 @ 4k
Cooler Master CM Elite @ 2.2k
Samsung 22"2233 @ 9k
22x DVD Writer Samsung @ 1.2k
Sapphire HD4870 512MB GDDR5 @ 9k
Logitech MX518 @ 1.5k
Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 @ 0.9k
Altec Lansing VS4121 @ 3k
This works out to be 50k exact. :ohyeah: The 720BE is a good tri-core processor. This is a good all-round gaming rig for 50k.:cool2: Will need a bigger budget if you want to go for the intel i-5/DDRIII combo.:( Else get a good batch of the PhenomII X2-550BE@5.3k + Biostar 790GXBE and try unlocking the other two cores. Great VFM.

+1 but you can spend a bit and get a Phenom II x4 for better results. :)

Budget expandable to 60K. then what are the options?

As for power supply, I don't think corsair is available in Punjab, is a generic 450W okay?

Are you serious? :S If you wanna fry your PC in 2-3 days then go ahead. :bleh:
Processor: Intel Core i5 750 (socket 1156)- 10.4k
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 - 7.5k
RAM: G-Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL 1600MHz RIP JAWS - 7k
GPU: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4870 - 9k
HDD: Seagate 1TB 7200.12 - 4k
Cabinet: CoolerMaster Elite 334 - 2.3k
SMPS: Corsair VX 550W - 5.5k / Glacial Power 650 w - 4.8k / Seasonic S12II 500W Extreme Power + 500W - 4.9k
Optical Drive: L.G. GH22NS30 SATA - 1.1k
Monitor: Samsung 22"2233 - 9k
Keyboard: Logitech Basic Keyboard - 0.5k
Mouse: Logitech MX518 - 1.5k
Speakers: Altec Lansing VS4121 - 3k
This will cost you 60k approx. Budget permitting go for a Nvidia 260GTX or a ATI HD4890 @ 11k approx to make it a better. Generic PSU are for a 20-30k normal rigs.

In the above config the intel is increasing the cost. It is better to stick to AMD and get a better GFX if you are planning the rig for gaming.

The config suggested by Karthi007 is nice but a few changes.

Processor: Intel Core i5 750 (socket 1156)- 10.4k

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 - 7.5k

RAM: Corsair XMS3 2*2GB 1600MHz - 5k

GPU: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD5850 - 17k

HDD: Seagate 500GB 7200.12 - 2.5k

Cabinet: CoolerMaster Elite 334 - 2.3k

SMPS:Glacial Power 650 w - 4.8k

Optical Drive: L.G. GH22NS30 SATA - 1.1k

Monitor: Samsung 22"2233 - 9k

Keyboard: Logitech Basic Keyboard - 0.5k

Mouse: Logitech MX518 - 1.5k

Speakers: Altec Lansing VS4121 - 3k

Total - 64.6k

Thanks, this looks great.

When I meant generic I did not actually mean 450W. I am wondering if Corsair 650W is not available, are there some other brands which make 600-700W power supply?

I’m not suggesting Intel (though it looks juicy) because they have a super confusing set of sockets in the market right now and none are compatible with even each other, forget backward and forward compatibility. Go for the AMD rig already suggested.

As for PSUs, there’s Cooler Master’s Real Power series, Tagan, Antec etc that make high-end PSUs for gaming rigs. Research their sites to find out the model numbers. They also have modular power supplies. Some prefer that and some do not. Choose according to your preference.

Athlon II X4 620 @ 6k
Biostar TA790GXB @ 4.4k
4GB DDR2 800MHz C4 OCZ Platinum @ 3.5k
Zebronics Bijli @ 1k
Corsair VX450W @ 4.1k
BenQG2220HD @ 8.6k
Logitech kbd/mouse combo @ 1.2k
Seagate 500GB @ 2.6k
22x DVD Writer LG @ 1.1k
Altec Lansing VS4121 @ 3k

GPU - HD5770 1GB ???

Thanks for the options!

My brother (who is actually the buyer) is contacting suppliers in Punhab.

If he does not find something, I have asked him to tell me the alternatives available.

Mostly everything is okay, but he is getting Corsair 1300 and not 1600

Any ideas?
