Tata Motors will soon launch a new variant of the successful Indica Vista christened the Ignis in the Indian market.

Ignis would be the 4th Indica Vista variant in a lineup which already consists of Aqua, Terra and the Aura.

The ignis will come with a bigger 1.4 Litre Saffire engine that also does duty under the hood of the recently launched Fiat Punto but in this iteration, makes 95 ps, 5 ps up on the Fiat figure. The bigger 1.4 engine is a welcome change since the current 1.2 Litre Saffire unit although fuel efficient is underpowered for a car of this size.

Apart from the bigger engine the new Indica Vista Ignis will also come with revised interiors which feature a new dash integrated audio system with bluetooth connectivity and call answer and reject buttons and USB connectivity, new steering wheel with steering mounted audio controls and electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors. Keyless entry is also standard.

Safety has also been given a throughover with Ignis now offering ABS + EBD and Dual front Air Bags as standard. This is an important move since we have always maintained from the begining about the lack of ABS and Airbags even as an option in the Indica Vista range.

The new Indica Vista Ignis will be out in the showroom and is expected to cost Rs 4.7 - 5.0 Lakhs Ex-Showroom Delhi.

Omg!! am I dreaming?

ABS, EBD, Dual airbags standard!!

if thats for real and not something that u have to pay for as extras then thats awesome!

Seriously if this is real, I will be pushing this car to the top of the list ! I mean come on ABS + nice engine + roomy interiors + decent looks @ 5 lakhs is a freaking steal !!!

its petrol... dosent make more sense to go for Ritz petrol with 17 as avg. i know it has got horrible looks...no idea about 1.4engine anyway...keeping watch on 4.5-5.5L market.
would plan to buy but not now... year end may be.... lets see if Toyota comes with small car :)

^^ The Ritz is NOT an alternative as its interior space is nothing to boast about. The Ritz like most Maruti cars feels rather fragile and feels like a toy compared to the Vista.

I really liked the Vistas look and feel but discounted it since Tata provided no safety features. Now with airbags, a music system with bluetooth + steering mounted controls + a peppy (albiet less fuel efficient ) engine + ABS and for just 5 lacs its a darn steal. Its interior space will give plenty of sedans a run for the money !

The music system with bluetooth is a carry-over, seen pics of it on the previous vista. The safety features alone seem new.

Whats interesting to me is that the same engine is detuned in the Fiat Linea/GP. Way to go Fiat :P

errr.....before gettin too excited...its 5 lac ex showroom delhi so comes arnd 6lacs after all....so wouldnt u go for punto abs with that terrific diesel?

Hell yeah ! :ohyeah:
You've got a valid point there.

why FIAT is giving its gems (engines) to TATA? Just like Vista quadrajet, this new varient will be a not so good car with a gem of an engine.
VIsta's chassis, build quality, switch gear quality etc sucks big time.
It's only the TATAs who are enjoying the benefits of TATA-FIAT joint venture.

^^ Lol ! Dude did you even realize how few service centres and showrooms Fiat had before the venture ? Their sales improved quite a bit after the JV. Now that they have competitive models its up to them to leverage their relationship with Tata and aggressively push sales.

@Nimit & Toxicmind - Only the Grande Punto 1.4 Emotion compares to the Tata Vista. The Grande Punto diesel costs a cool 5.6 lacs ex-showroom Delhi for the emotion variant (with the ABS). Plus the Grade Punto is known to have cramped seats at the rear.

^ Personally, even I think that Fiat should start branching off soon. Borrowing Tata's service centres for widespread availability is nothing compared to the amount of IP that Tata is leeching off Fiat.

Sadly Fiat suffer from the carrot-before-the-horse syndrome.. they're waiting for those magnificent sales figures before even considering dedicated service centres.

problem was that fiat spares were not widely available at all. And nobody would want to sell/stock fiat spares because there were no cars/sales, and the shortage of spares affected fiat sales. So a catch 22 situation.

What they are doing seems to be a feasible way out of it. If the punto shares so many mechanical bits with the indica vista, then both these problems will automatically be taken care of :)

well person like me wont invest in Diesel car.
i would like petrol car only as my running wont be much. hardly 500km a month. but i want best avg and as max as space possible. so new indica vista is with good look and enough space...what i want.
but 1.4 and all....i dont think it will improve avg of that vehicle. tata should try for something like all aluminum engine which suzuki launched in Ritz petrol.
i know it may be little under power for car like vista but i am looking for space like vista and engine like Ritz.... i hate ritz look else it has decent features and cant go with Astar as its a baby car.....
