We have asked the admin to implement a time period for a new member to enter the market sections, something like 35 posts + 5 days, which should hopefully reduce the spamming noticed by Shailesh
It's not about making it exclusive. What we are doing is increasing the risk of fly by night deals on TE by new members. I don't need to point that out. And where did the exclusivity come from ? A guy who joins TE for TE can wait for 30 days and have someone review his posts i think to be "GRANTED" the reward of being able to access the market section. It's not exclusive. It's restrictive. If i am not mistaken, the market section as pointed by all the mods is a privilege and not the Selling Point of TE. Whatever the mods say that they are not responsible for the deals happening on TE, you people are to some extent, in terms of making it safer, not for taking the end responsibility. I personally deal very very less in the market section. It is for the others for whom i am pointing this out.
As for the decision, 35 posts +5 days is nothing. It's no restriction. No use troubling the admin for so small a change.
I have actually no idea why the day limit has not been applied till now, i know nearly all mods who i have talked to were in favor for this, including having someone review the new members posts before they are allowed into the market. I know adding these limits will reduce traffic into TE, and for all we say, it is a very important thing when it comes to running such a huge site. But that is no reason for making it troublesome for older members.
I for one at one point came to TE a month or so back everyday expecting a new thread in the Market Feedback section pointing out how they have been scammed and asking for Mods to butt in. Everyday. As such the mods could not do anything except put in the names of the fraudsters in that new banned thread. But IMHO, you responsibility lies in the power to prevent them, not correct them.
