The N460GTX Hawk Talon Attack

Following the release of its month old MSI N460GTX Hawk, MSI has prepared yet another Hawk, the N460GTX Hawk Talon Attack. Featuring higher factory overclock, better 0.4ns GDDR5 memory, MSI's Twin Frozr II cooler, the new GTX 460 Hawk should be considered the cream of the crop, at least when you talk about GTX 460 GPU.

The new N460GTX Hawk Talon Attack works at 810MHz for the GPU, 1620 for those 336 Cuda cores and features 1GB of GDDR5 memory overclocked at 3600MHz. The dual slot Twin Frozr II cooler should keep the GPU quite well cooled thanks to its two fans and four heatpipes. The card still features two DVI and single HDMI output.

MSI rolling out new GTX 460 Hawk

This has higher GPU clock than the normal Hawk version (810MHz vs 780MHz)

Guess what its already listed in SMC for 14k :D (Though i have small doubt that they might have mixed up the Hawk and Hawk Talon version as the normal Hawk version link says its due to to available in 1st week of October and both are priced at 14k with the Talon being the better card)

P.S: SMC has also listed the GTS450 Cyclone 450 for 7.8k. Excellent VFM card under 8k :D

hmmm not much change from the earlier hawks.. all 4 of my cards do 840mhz on stocks volts ( 1.02V).

Makes sence for them to step it up to 810 since i think every card is capable of doing those speeds at modest voltages. No point in selling the cards at 780 when they will 825-850 with ease under 1.087v. That cooler can take a lot more volts though :)

Would have liked to see them put VRM heastinks on but dont think its possible with the Twin Frozer cooler being the way it is.

Good card though pointless from Msi, i dont see a need for 2 hawk gtx 460 cards.. thats pretty silly.

Should just make the regular hawk EOL and sell these. I think thats what they will do .

i got one hawk after hunting very hard for it for 2 weeks but still there is no stock anywhere and smc has just listed the normal and talon version , i had asked them they said they dont have yet and will contact me when available ..

and there is no difference except bios between normal and this ... same gpu .

this card runs really cool and silent , other than that i dont think its much better than other 460s in overclocking , the msi afterburner is really buggy and pissing me off . wanted to test single card first and then sli but i wont buy one more card until the afterburner works and card overclocks good , managed to get card till around 875 stable till now . only gpu core voltage i am able to change with afterburner , mem and pll doesnt work .
 
@ robo. afterburner is fine for me.. downloaded the latest version and works great.

If that dosent work use nvidiainspector. Pretty nice utility i think :)

^ i know , i tried all versions , triple voltage versions dont work , when i set voltage it reverts back , and only 1.6.1 works , many people have same problem and its posted on ocn and guru3d also . lets see when they release fixed version :@

i know nvidiainspector , but using galaxy xtremetuner hd now only core voltage change works though.
 
@ robo .. try Afterburner 2.0 Beta 7. That might solve your issue maybe.

I am running beta 7 and have had no problems at all.
