New Reliance Wimax Connection: Make sense ?

Of late i've been hearing of low download speeds on http links.. are any of you guys here facing any such issues ? Im planning on opting for the 400 Kbps Ul connection in a day or two... any inputs would be appreciated.

HTTP speeds are fine on my 400kbps around 50 or so.. and yes that DHCP fetching IP addy issue is resolved totally... like I said just one 10 min downtime I have faced in the last 9 months... now thats quite unlike any other service I had exp. with...

hi guys.

no issues watsoever on speeds either torrents or http also jus to clear some doubts speeds on rs also stable...torrents speeds btw 40 and 60k depending upon seeds and peers, http and rs speeds stable 55k...as per what my cousin frank mentioned a few pages ago...got myself rid of the issue with the 24hrs session expiery issue and now never get logged off....cs too has improoved as i had an issue and they sorted it in 2 hrs instead of their 48hrs deadline....ppl have said reliance has the crappiest cs but to my surprise its average as far as they understand the issue and get the job done...

Plan detail including total charges + taxes please?

Guys, i stay in Borivali (west). Is this reliance wimax service available in my area. How do i get all the information about availability / plan etc ??

I ve been using the hathway connection till now since 4 years prolly. I think i need a change desperately now, main reason : humungous pings on game servers (sheeesh! what an embarassment getting pwned by noobs :| )

Ever since the cable cuts every 6 months, i keep telling myself - Oh!, hopefully now the pings should behave after that cable cut  but it just kept rising, hence no point in sticking to Hathway.

But, does anyone know how much will a 600kbps conx cost?. I dont want a dip down on download speeds as i ve been using 512kbps UL and getting 62-65kbps download speeds everytime. Need something similar or better but at a better price point, as i ve been paying 9k for 6 months :ashamed:

PS : sorry for the hijack :p

Connection is damn stable.
Speeds are good.

Here's the plan details...

Those of you using 400 plan i have a few questions (others can also answer)

1. The cheque amount stated in the above screenshot is the inital amount i will be paying

2. What sort of installation will be done by Reliance

3. I have a laptop with wifi, will i be connecting the wifi of my laptop with that router which reliance will provide (if they actually provide one)

4. If reliance is not providing any router then will we have to buy one. The chq amount stated is including the router charges ??

5. How much is the download speed should one expect for torrents and direct downloads for the 400 plan.

6. Is data download unlimited ?

1. Dont know, a person who uses 1 of their plans would know.

2. Installation of the router of course, registering MAC ID of the router/Lan card and the dialer software on the PC

3. If you have a wifi conx at home, you can access the same conx with multiple clients/terminals

3. Its a wifi conx that you are ordering, of course they will provide 1 router, i havent seen any wifi connection with out a router. Yes, CDMA is a different thing, but this aint that.

4. Reliance will of course provided a router, but for a flexible and better conx you can opt for your own router if you have one. You can get 1 for ~2k and ask Reliance to configure/register the MAC ID. 500/- is the installation fee. For more variations check this attachment that Rajshah gave

5. I think so, and i wish so :p

Dont contact that local dealer, they are over charging for 400kbps connection. Call up reliance directly at 30337777 and ask for a rep sent home etc.. They will check if its feasible at ur place or not and advise you accordingly..

Data download is unltd, torrents and http you will get an avg speed of 50kbps...

I'm gonna be getting the single-user plan (either 600 or 1000) set up in my room within the next coupla weeks. This conection comes with a dynamic ip, and reliance charges an extra 2k/year for a static ip. My question is, is it worth that extra moolah for a static ip, or is a dynamic ip just fine?

^

1. Dynamic ip is just fine. No need to pay extra for static unless you plan to host a site or something.

2. The agency guys don't overcharge.

3. It's Wimax and not Wifi. No router will be provided by reliance.

4. They will fit a small dish kind of thing on your terrace or outside your house.

5. If you need wifi connectivity, you need to buy your own router. Buy it before you get the connection or after. No issues. The router will clone the mac id for you. No need to worry about reliance there.

6. Downloads are unlimited. I easily cross 6gb up+down everyday.

can any one tell me the pings in battlefield 2 using wimax plz :ashamed:
Btw, on reliance website, the tariffs says ~1800 for 600kbps and the attachment that rajshah provided says 1399 for 600 kbps :S
Which one is correct ?

^ Am on the 400kbps unlimited plan.
Around 4 x 700mb rips = ~2.8gb down.
Uploads are near about same or even more. :)
Have also switched to higher quality rips / 2cd ones / hd stuff recently.
Check pic...
