Yo Guys,

I finally decided to upgrade my rig :ohyeah: , So here it goes.

Budget=60K Max.

Need it mainly for Browsing,Music,Movies,Photoshop (et all) and some gaming (mostly CSS and shud be able to run recent games on medium settings).

Need a hi-fi sounding machine, not too much on the graphics side (Am almost decided on a 6600 GT).

Also, I need the Bling Bling :ohyeah: i.e. I need shiny stuff inside my very good cabinet :D.

Any suggestions guys??

Regards,

DC.

PS: I'll be getting a top notch card in December 2006 (Most Prolly a DX10 card), so the grafix requirement of my card is only till December in this rig :).This rig shud be able to support the new card too, when it comes in December :D.

Go for PCIe and it will support your new card when you get it in Dec :P

And for a good sounding machine, go for an X-Fi with a good set of speakers. Let us know how much you are willing to spend on the speakers.

It will be easier to suggest then.

Regarding the bling bling, buy a pair of CCFLs. and use a couple of LED fans. You in Hydbad IIRC and Rave got a few CCFLs from there. So contact him and ask him for suggestions.

And abt the proccy + mobom go for an Opty with an A8N-E or if you can spend a bit more, the DFI Lanparty NF 4 Ultra-D. And go for UCCC 512 x 2 = 1 GB or 2 x 1GB = 2 GB RAM.

I am sorry for not giving you a proper config. Am too lazy to sit and calculate the price of components :P

DFI = 9K, A8N-E = 6K, Opty = 8K, 2 GB UCCC(or Micron) = 9K 1 GB UCCC = 4.xK. less than 4.5K.

LED fans are usually in the price range of 500 or thereabouts ffor 80mm I guess.....

And buy a VIP ZB-01 and mod the sidepanel. And go for an Antec SP 450/500 Watts. Or again if you can afford, then a NeoHE.

And a Benq DW 1650 DVD Writer. I hope all this falls within 60K.

The Max I can spend is 60K all inclusive..

So, From the TE Price Guide..

Opty (146): 8,500

Asus A8NE : 5,600

Antec SP 450W: 4,151

Grafix Card (6600GT): 6,700

Monitor(LCD-Sam770P) 15,000

Cabby (Dunno) ????

RAM( TwinMos 512MB DDR400)X2 4,900

Seagate 120 GB 3,800

BenQ 1650 3000

So, this is as per the TE Price List.

<n00b>

I have NO Idea about the cabinet prices..

Secondly, tell me the difference between SATA and PATA HDDs </n00b>

So, this leaves me with no cash for Soundcard and speakers :(.

Please suggest the speakers that I should go for...Max I can chalk out for speakers+soundcard wud be around 12K Max...

Looking forward to ur suggestions guys :).

Regards,

DC.

DC, if you want z5300 and SB live 5.1 it's gonna tip the scale to the wrong side of 60k. Plus you will need a cabby and optical drive. Also post if you want a surround sound solution or a good 2.1 like mx5021 will do.

Dfi Ultra D and Antec cabby 11.5k

Opty 165 17k

Samsung UCCC 1 Gb x 2 - 9k

200 GB Sata - 4k

Vantec Ion psu or Antec SP 400W - 3.5k

LG 1650 - 3k

Monitor Samsung 17" flat - 6k

SB Live 24 bit 1500

Altec Lansing 251 - 4k

6200 TC - 2k :P

shud be about 60k, if i didnt miss anything hehe

I'll have to further cut down my budget for grafix and sound if I try to go dual core..so dual core for me is ruled out.

A 146 will be good enuff for me I guess.

DC.

revised config

Antec Super Lanboy 5k

Dfi Ultra D 9k

Opty 146 - 8.5k

Samsung UCCC 1 Gb x 2 - 9k

200 GB Sata - 4k

Vantec Ion psu or Antec SP 400W - 3.5k

LG 1650 - 3k

Monitor Samsung 17" flat - 6k

SB Live 24 bit 1500

Altec Lansing 251 - 4k

Gigabyte 6600 GT 8.5k

if u dont want a DFi, u can go for a A8Ne for 5.5k

and for a zebby cabinet or something for 2k

that way ull save up about 6k which u can spend for buying a good mouse, (copperhead anyone? :P ) or get an MX5021 or get a better gfx card ;)

Ok..So Do I go for an LCD or a CRT Monitor??

If I go for a CRT, I can get a bigger one at a much lesser price, and that money can be used to get a good sound card + speaker setup.

At present am fixed on Opty 146 and will try to get that...

Could someone tell me the latest prices of:

Opty 146

Ausu A8ne MObo

Twinmos DDR400 RAM

Any Good 19" Flat Monitor

Sound Card (Dunno which one to go for) - Max 5k for the sound card.

Yea a 19" crt will cost you in the region of 11-12k, i'd recommend a samsung 997df. So you end up saving around 3k there. About the opty well prices are on the rise all over, a opty 144 is now 10k....... 146 will be still dearer. The Audigy 2ZS fits the bill perfectly else you can spend 2k more and get a X-fi.

DC,

Opty 146 : ? as blade said maybe above 10k

Ausu A8ne MObo : 5.5 - 6 k

Twinmos DDR400 RAM(512MB * 2) : 4.5 - 5 k

Any Good 19" Flat Monitor : 12 - 14 k

hey darthcoder u asked abt sata n pata, actually PATA is the "older" kinda HDD and is much slower than the SATA(Serial-ATA) which offers a much greater data transfer and all....SATA hdd's aren't much costlier either now, just abt 500 is the difference bet. a 80gb PATA and SATA drive, so it's more sensible to get a SATA if the mobo supports it, off cource, all new ones do. :)

^^Not necessarily... if the buffer size and RPM remains the same, the hard drives of the same family nearly perform equally. The only possible benefit in performance could be from command queing which is only available in SATA.

But I've read that ncq only slows things down. :( So, the only benefit is the thin sata cable. Very good for airflow and cable management.

many a times, we have to disable NCQ (i forgot i did that when i was dealing with some other problems, i should turn this back on and see). PATA max speed is 133 where as in SATA there's 150 and 300. these are just the max speeds. i think the cable size is a big advantage though.

NCQ shouldn't slow down things? i thought it was to speed up :D.

if you plan for the Z-5300/Z-5300e, i've the Z-5300e and i think the base is overpowering. if you have a habit of listening on earphones (which i know you do to get your hearing reduced!!), you would note the killer base. in 5.1, go for something else. else 2.1.
