New Scam on the Rise - Beware

We used to get so many mails with the heading ” You won the lottery … ” , ” Confidential : I have xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx $ …. ” , ” You have be chosen .. ” , Etc . When they first came into action , many innocent people fell into their trap and lost thousands. Today i wanted everyone to know that there is new scam rising in the world of SMS.!

It all started a few days back when my mom asked me to check her sms about a message she received that her mobile number has been chosen for a prize money. when i searched for the message and found it , i am surprised , simply because this has been there in Internet for years , Now in mobile ? WTH ? Hers was a BSNL number , so i thought some As$hole is sending some stupid message.

Today , I got a similar message. Take a look.

If you have ever come across or still haven’t , please inform your parents , relatives that these things are on prowl and to be careful. Many people , especially Indians are susceptible for these kind of scams. They think its from the Airtel / Bsnl / Idea , just like some other alert , they fail to see the difference between the spam and real alerts from the Mobile companies.

that should read: "especially [strike]indians[/strike] gullible ones who are blinded by their greed"...
 
i got the same one with 500,000 GBP for Chevron, then Samsung, etc and the contact person in one was Mr John or someone like that.

main point to notice about this is it starts with "your mobile no has been selected" or "Your mobile no has won"

such sms are always spam and tricks.

lol. in most cases if you phone this no, it gets redirected to some other telephone no. to Nigeria where you will be talking to some prince who cannot claim money which he inherited or who has too much money and wants to give you some of it. :rofl:

I guess that group is majorly made up of Indians considering the only people I knew to have been fooled by such scams (especially the Nigerian scams) even in recent years are Indians and to some extent Americans too. :P
 
One of my frnds father got the message....

The chap idiot(my frnd) called even on that number...person told to send documents for verification...later came to us running saying i won money..and we ragged him bad
 
Nobody uses DND services or what???

Get rid of these pesky ad-scam-offers messages / tele-marketing calls, once and for all. I hate these crap messages / calls and gets the hell irritated out of me. Register for DND.

nopes. maybe just for their personal record as to whom they succeeded in scamming.

they will just make another excuse and say they need some money from you to make sure you are the person or something like that. Then everytime you ask them about the money, on some pretext or other they will keep asking money from you.

read about this in the toi when some guy paid about 2lacs and then realised that he was duped.

screenshot i have posted is from my mobile , a airtel subscriber.

I have registered in airtels Do Not Disturb service 4-5 months back .

Still i get 4-5 Ads...:@:@:@:@
