Another friend of mine had his socket A mobo die. wanted to get something new for him. Something the bare minimum, as he had another pc , and a spare AGP card
I have been recommending the MSI K9 MM-v for budget builds , but twas the first time i'd actually used one
cost 2.2k
we chose that over a 6100 based board as he had an agp card spare.
and the sempron 3400+ , cos the LE 1100's price seems to have actually risen by 200 rs, its ~1.7k now. They're trying to get rid of the older semprons , i guess thats why the other one is more expensive. Anyway, its just for casual use , occasional CS , and power saving wasnt important. so got the 3400+
got UMAX :S RAM. pity it was all the shop near his house had :| oh well, it works
the k9MM-v bios had a few glitches , especially getting stuck which strangely got cured when we removed the jumpers to the power LED... weird . but otherwise , runs fine
didnt test out the onboard video or sound either , but should be fine
it has 3 pci slots , and an AGP slot , could be good to give life to an old system
. especially the extra PCI slots is a great idea, now that most budget AM2 mobos have only two PCI slots
Its also got a few options to OC. at least Something ! my gigabyte doesnt have anything !
anyway my friend insisted on booting from his old XP cos he had been running on an A7V400, a via board , so (at least he claimed) it should work
it certainly didnt
and i was trying to make the windows running smoothly with the correct drivers. I'll try to get driver cleaner pro clean up the mess , or if that doesnt help, put in a clean reinstall and let you guys know how good the drivers are
